I don't think he's any great shakes as a coach, but I'm not sure many would make much more out of the roster he's been given.
Considering his resume has the dumpster fire that was in Cleveland at the time and the Giants of the past two years, I don't know that there's any coach aside from some of the all time greats that I'd trust to get significantly better results.
is ownership going to sell the idea of this clown as coach? Nobody is in his corner, and if he starts out 0-2 again next year (lets be real fans will go week 1 no matter what, optimism springs eternal in the NFL), the stadium will be half empty by week 3.
..I agree with Rjanyg. Like it or not, I don't think the Giants make another coaching change. With that being said, if he's back, then I hope he is successful. I am one of the few who wants to win badly on Sunday so maybe it is wishful thinking.
Firing TC wasn't a mistake, he made a ton of ingame errors his last
couple seasons with a lot of outdated decision making. And I doubt the proliferation of Cuse and BC players was a JR doing. However, I would have kept him on board unless we had a strong candidate to replace him.

I pray PS makes me eat a big fat shit sandwich unlike some others here who would rather be right and have the Giants suck. I just don't see that happening.
And I wonder if DG is lobbying behind closed doors to oust this guy,
he has to see the same shit we are seeing. We have adults in the room, is about a luke warm vote of confidence as you can get. I don't think he totally was thrilled about the candidates available at the time which is understandable. HC is a hard position to fill. I like the candidates way better this time around Salah, Rhule, possibly Richards. Patricia was probably my favorite candidate that year, but he hasn't done much in Detroit with a QB. Plays in a tough division though.
but it was still probably the right move...but the last two hires have been abysmal. Look at how seasoned and successful TC was before he got the job compared to the last two clowns. I want someone with head coaching experience next time...and I mean experience in winning games.
For the 11-5 season? The offense (his domain), was an absolute dumpster fire. One of the worst in the entire league. We were a winning team only because Spagnuolo's defense, which you all know damn well that BM had extremely little to zero input in.
We were 27th in PPG offensively, with under 20 points per game.
We were 23rd in offensive yardage in the league.
22nd in RZ scoring %.
30th in 3rd down conversion %.
And dead last in giveaways per game (we had the most).
Shurmur's offense is a juggernaut compared to McAdoo's.
Most of the credit for that 11-5 season should go to Spags, Landon Collins, Janoris Jenkins, and Damon Harrison.
McAdoo is and was a worse coach than Shurmur.
Once the game slows down for DJ a little, and they make some improvements on that line, this team is going to be a LOT better.

I don't think firing Coughlin was necessarily a mistake, but in retrospect I really would have liked to see what might have happened had he been the guy in charge of that 2016 team.
We have a young team and we need another off season to make a difference from the teardown that has happened with DG.
Shurmur is going to get the rest of this year and the first half of next year.
We need more help on the OL including at least 1 OT and a great Center, a top tier WR, a 2 way TE on offense.
We will need to find a top tier pass rusher, a smart, fast versatile ILB and a center field FS for defense.
Next year is huge in terms of finding these players and adding depth.
The roster is not finished.
Agree with your take but I don't expect another win this year so another spring to build the roster through
the draft and free agency . We should be in much better
shape I expect to add 2-3 starters to the O-line
and shore up the defense . He needs to get out of the
gates fast if he starts out 0-4 1-5 then he should be
fired

The issue of integrating line run action to support that doesn't seem to be in his resume yet.

This about sums up Shurmur on game days...
Starting? It was evident when they did it.

That is the key is too buys trying to live up to the QB whisper BS .... IMO
