"Ed Valentine joins me... to discuss where the Giants stand as they face a critical crossroad ahead of their game with the Jets."
At present, this team is not evenly remotely close to standing at any crossroad whatsoever. The Giants need to build a new road from scratch and that will take years.
In the meantime, the writers and pundits can say what they want about this sports franchise. They are investing words in a marginalized team hemmed in by countless bad decisions.

TE Evan Engram (foot), C Jon Halapio (hamstring) and RT Mike Remmers (back) not spotted at practice. Safe to assume all three will be ruled out.
will start to shut it down. Have to manage his back to play. Team's 2-7.
No good reason to lay in on the line anymore. If he wants to play next year he has to start getting ready now.

I disagree. Someone like Jenkins I'd agree, but Remmers is playing (or not) for his next contract. If he can't get better play on tape this year, he's looking at another 1 year deal next offseason at likely an even lower AAV.

Depending on how hurt he is, that might be a preferable option to going out there and injuring himself to the point where he might not pass a physical next time. He barely passed it this year.

The good news it will give guys like Nick Gates and possibly Chad Slade a chance to prove themselves. This team desperately needs a hidden gem along the OL.

I think the reason those guys are hidden is because they're not gems.

Adding to that, our coaches haven't shown that they can develop a lineman. So if there are gems, good luck with refining them into anything of value.
The O-line might actually improve but will also have Â
Timing and trouble with stunts .
Shame we don't have a couple of big TE's and
use the FB and run Barkley as much as possible
but we don't and we won't .
Another low scoring loss coming .
