Mavs are in town tonight. KP admitted yesterday during an interview he asked to be traded. I know there's some back and forth on this board about he did/didn't want out. KP is soft.
Still, there had been some pushback about whether Porzingis actually requested a trade.
Today, Porzingis confirmed he did.
SNY:
•Reporter: “You had the trade request, right?”
•Porzingis: [nodding] “Yeah”

No Mitchell Robinson tonight. It's a shame, I wanted to see him D up against KP. Maybe Randle slides down to the 5.

they believed to much in dennis smith..
I also think they believe too much in their name and arena. Hopefully this was a wake up call that having a great arena and fan base just doesn’t cut it with the current generation of players anymore.
Wake up calls and Dolan don't mix.

We all know how this goes. We end up with LaMelo and it turns into a complete shit show.
I actually like what I've seen from LaMelo. Wiseman looks like a potential monster so he's "my guy" right now but LaMelo could be a nice player.
Oh I like LaMelo the prospect too. But Dolan and Lavar would not be a good mix.
I don't disagree but it's not like he was contributing before the absence. He clearly needed more practice time after coming back from the injury. Missing more practices since then likely doesn't bode well going forward.
They made it sound like he's still grieving. They didn't make him available to the media and it's not as if they have these hard hitting questions for him.

Not trying to be insensitive but that’s a lot of time off. He’s back with the team so maybe they don’t think he’s ready and it’s a team decision. But they desperately need to get something out of Smith.

Again not trying to be disrespectful about someone losing a loved one- but doesn't 2 weeks seem long to mourn?
And I'm not saying start him and play him 40 mins tonight. But hes 21 years old and should be able to give some minutes even if he hasn't practiced. Especially when the Knicks are down to one healthy point guard...
probably want him to get a couple of practices in before throwing him back onto the court
Would you want the Knicks to go after him? As long as no 1st round picks are involved, I think they should pursue it.
Randle and DSJ for Russell?

Why would the warriors do that?

Bucher is reported Curry is done for the year.I wonder if they look to trade Russell when hes eligible.

They probably wouldn't and could get more for him. But there have been rumors ever since they signed him that they expect to trad him. I bet he gets moved and they go all in on the tank and reload for next season.

oh yeah agree. i just dont think the Knicks are in a position to grab him. He'll go to a borderline competitor like Detroit or something
Knicks would of taken josh jackson and markannen at their pick that was the rumor..
also phil was getting killed for wanting to trade kp
you are not trading barrett or mitch, and i dont know how the warriors value knox..
yup i was completely fine trading kp for a haul at the time
I just wish they focused on receiving the maximum return for KP when they decided to trade him. They should have ignored dumping the contracts and gotten the best possible picks and players back. If the summer came and they needed the cap space, they could have always used picks- their own or whatever they received to free up cap space once for sure they knew they had a commitment.

i wish dolan let phil make the trade..

This was widely reported at the time. I believe the Knicks wanted Brown, their pick and the Nets pick. Boston said they could have Brown and one of the picks, but not all three assets and Phil walked away. Better than what they got (most likely, Dallas picks tbd) but it wouldn't have been a franchise-changing move. Plus, this was before KP tore his ACL.

ironically, it would appear Mills/Perry properly valued KP in the Dallas trade. If you believe the reports (from Lowe IIRC) that it would have taken one first rounder to move Lee and two first round picks to move Hardaway, that's a pretty hefty theoretical return. Even if it were only 4 picks coming back (maybe some swap rights as well), that's still a lot.
Our next high draft pick - presumably this season - is gonna make or break us going forward. Usually you get to draft two good young players before you graduate out of the ranks of the bottom-feeders. It would've been KP and Barrett, but KP came and went. Now it's Barrett + the next guy. Cole Anthony, James Wiseman, Anthony Edwards - I'll take my chances with them.
why does he not stagger them with his rotations? you can keep 2 of them in all game, why does he always start the 2md and 4th with none of them on the court?

The NCAA has ruled Memphis F/C James Wiseman -- the possible No. 1 overall pick in 2020 NBA Draft -- ineligible, his lawyers said in Memphis.

probably took money
I don't think that's right. Wiseman didn't move to Memphis until his sophomore year of HS. Must be a typo meaning 2018, not 2008.
haha yup, and his mom in the movie gets a new house near the school
Bingo.
Back - overpay and then get rid of him?

you shut your mouth right now

for trying to spin Porzingis while his value was still sky high, but his desire to take Josh Jackson completely nullifies that. I could've lived with trading KP for Fox or Tatum, even at the time. Jackson did not have much upside offensively to warrant that type of move.
yup i was completely fine trading kp for a haul at the time
I wasn’t but in retrospect we’d have been much better off doing it then vs last year.

I did sorry. I yell often here lol... you were right to trade him then.
they are going to overturn it
