NFL 100 Greatest Teams

Bramton1 : 11/9/2019 10:10 am
So I saw clips from the 2007 team and the 2011 team as ads for the NFL 100 Greatest Teams show. 2011 team was 93th. 2007 team was 53rd.

In your mind, which team was better?
07 was way better

The only thing 11 had on 07 was a better Eli and the WRs

the 07 and 11 teams are not in the top 100 teams of all time, and 07 definitely is not 53. That's not a slight - IMO, that's what made the superbowls so god damn special. We were not the best team in the league the year, we were just the champions, which is the only thing that matters. I love it.

If anything, the 08 team was better than both of them
2007 easily

More complete team, better OL play, excellent defense, ascending.

I’d argue 2008 was even better, but I don’t think I would have many people here disagree with me.
Sorry for the triple post

but last thing - unpopular opinion incoming, but I think the '10 team was better than 11
The 86 superbowl Giants
mdthedream : 11/9/2019 10:20 am : link
with a 14-2 record and a superbowl win in 87 is the best Giants team.
They
mdthedream : 11/9/2019 10:20 am : link
only lost two games.
2007 team

The 2007 team was a more balanced team. The defense came together and we had a running game with the three headed monster running backs. I think the 2011 team was 32nd in the league in rushing that year. 1986 team tops them all.
Parity and FA watered down the league to some extent

any team in salary cap era would have a hard time holding up against their pre-FA predecessors once you adjust for the increase in athletic ability. It was just much easier to build a dominant roster and keep it together longer.
The 2007 team was awesome
mdthedream : 11/9/2019 10:23 am : link
but lost Phil Simms who was a much better QB than Jeff Hostettler.
2008 was better than both of those teams

Until Plax decided it was a good idea to just have a gun hanging out on a belt clip in a club. I know it’s how you finish and not how you start. But that team was rolling. Beating teams they never seemed to beat. Including the cardinals and Steelers who I think that was the year they played in the super bowl. He should have won MVP that year because they went from like 11-1 to 1-5 without him.
The same could be said for the 1987 team

If it weren’t for the strike we were clear favorites that year.
The '08 team was the best of the Coughlin era

.

'07 > '11.
IMO the O line in 2011 was not good
terptacular : 11/9/2019 10:56 am : link
Eli deserves a ton of credit for that superbowl run. Its amazing how quickly that 2008 O line regressed from 2008 to 2011 and beyond.
I'm not sure 2011 should even
MBavaro : 11/9/2019 11:11 am : link
be on a top 100 list. There are scads of teams that were way better that never won the Super Bowl.

I had originally heard he had sweatpants on... in the club... a gun in his sweatpants, waistband, in the club... cant make that up, can you?
2011 team

seems to be a little underrated. The trio of receivers they had were probably the best in the league that year.

They overcame a lot of injuries and as they got healthy the talent showed. Probably TC's favorite "team" as they really came together.
