Been a fan since the late 60's. I watched every minute of every game in the 70's....brutal! These past several years have been as bad or worse to watch. I semi checked out after the Lions game. Oct and we're done....again. I'll watch if I have nothing better to do and will turn it off if its another bad game. No longer giving the kind of commitment I used to. This team has earned the worst label I think a team can have....irrelevant. Anyone else feel this way? Or maybe I'm just a grumpy old man.
No, I didn't watch because they weren't winning enough. You see, in this family we only keep watching if the team is winning, we only are fans of teams when they are good.
I know there's a segment of the fanbase that feels we should be angry all the time, as that somehow motivates Mara.
As a Giants/Mets/Islanders/Knicks fan, I've rooted for a lot of bad teams and still managed to have fun.
As for BBI, this site has always been nasty as shit. I have 10-year account and was lurking at least five years before that.
Eric decides what this community will be, and so, you just have to have fun with the twats.
Very accurate. LOL never thought of it that way but that's accurate. Right now it seems we'll never see them winning a game again.

Description of of lot of Patriot fans.
You can call me whatever names you want but I insist there is literally No Upside to the Giants winning any game the rest of the year.
As some have mentioned, a loss was a downer for a week, now its maybe 30 minutes. And even though I always root for a win while the game is on, after a loss I rationalize that its good in the long run draft position, etc.
As far as BBI, I lost track of when I first joined, but it was several years before the institution of user registration. And yes, it has always been nasty, but there were always some immensely interesting and entertaining threads, but those are gone. In light of the present political nightmare, that's probably a good thing, but its still something missing. Never understood the reason for the nastiness of some posters, but it is in fact a function of the internet.
I used to be on BBI for hours every day with multiple posts daily, even in the off season. Now I rarely visit and almost never post . Giants sucking, BBI nastiness and blandness (its not easy to achieve both), age? Probably all the above, but the Giants are a tradition in our family and I will watch every game.
This bad stretch theyve had? Thats the river. Everything youve ever watched, everything that made you so happy or sad? Thats the sea. This sucks now but its almost saying the reason you endure the bad is to enjoy the good.
That was the river... - ( New Window )
What a difference from today. No flag on every other play, with the officials often huddling first. No replay on every third play with more standing around by the players. The teams ran a play, went back into the huddle and ran the next play within thirty seconds. There was a flow.
No super slow motion replays of a "catch" by a receiver to see if the ball had begun to move in his hands before his knee touched down. Pass interference was the weakest part of the game then and it's still the weakest part, except that it stops the game while they review it now.
Why replay. The bad calls against you equaled out the bad calls in favor.
"Taunting" penalties? Two teams can slug it out for fifty five minutes on the clock only to have the game decided on whether one play "taunted" the other. Roughing the quarterback called if a DE gives the QB a light two handed shove in the back after the ball is gone?
But the worst part is the hardest to fix. Much less hard hitting, and penalties called on hits that would have been celebrated in 1990.
Not much you can do about that except maybe if someone came up with better protective gear then basically the same stuff you've been using for fifty years.
And confirm by watching their shitty play, the players I want cut my mini camp.
Oh I start with having the project(s) loosely set up, devoting commercials only to the kitchen. Gradually that devolves into full time cooking with listening to the game only since the kitchen space is open to the living room. If I hear something good happening, I step back into the LR to watch.
Later today, it will be 2 dishes: French onion soup and prepping a large dish of eggplant parmesan. The assembly of the eggplant parma has to wait for the consumption of the Pompano Morrocan style later this evening that currently occupies the large baking dish. The prep work (slicing eggplants, frying eggplant slices, grating cheese, making tomato sauce) can commence anytime.
Onion soup requires a shitload of onions to be thinly sliced and then caramelized and reduced in volume in a large pot. Over a small flame, it doesn't require too much attention while it caramelizes, but only the rather infrequent stirring and scraping of the bottom of the pot.
Each week I hope to see improvement out of the young players so that there is some hope going into next year. This team just doesnt have that. Barkley is Barkley, Jones makes some wow plays but seems to be required by law to turn it over 3 times every game. Overall, the team is poorly built and poorly coached so they are frustrating to watch. But I will watch anyway and hope for something to miraculously improve.
One poster above said something about the losing not being tolerated for long. That is the worst part of this for me. This organization does accept and tolerate losing. The focus is on people, not performance. They evaluate Dave and Pat and decide if they are the right fit. They dont look at wins and losses and ask if they are the best people for the job. That is more frustrating than the performances on the field.
But I will watch this crap show they roll out there today hoping for no particular reason that there are signs of life.
