GMs move not working out so far.

blue1986 : 11/10/2019 7:03 am
The Beckham and Vernon trades which got us Zeitler and Peppers has backfired for both teams, agreed. Zeitler is not going to the pro bowl and neither is Peppers. Vernon is injured as usual and Beckham is having a average year. Gentleman is not impressing me with any of his moves so far.
Pugh, Richburg and Flowers are playing well for their teams and our O-line is terrible right now via his moves. Flowers is playing guard well which he and Reese both misjudged.
Lawrence is working out just fine
LauderdaleMatty : 11/10/2019 7:14 am : link
You leave him out on purpose? Zeitler injured is much better than anyone theyve had at RG in a long time
I was happy when Gettleman let Pugh go
aGiantGuy : 11/10/2019 7:24 am : link
Pugh and Richburg have top 5 contracts for their respective positions to play slightly above average, both were put on IR last year. I’ll take Hernandez over Pugh any day, cheaper and better in the run game.
Your opening premise is stupid right off the bat
Tuckrule : 11/10/2019 7:24 am : link
The trade was a massive success.

Zeitler is our best offensive lineman this year and one of two men worth keeping on the line for next season (Hernandez and Zeitler)

We unloaded vernons insane contract and odells and got back peppers. So we saved money right there and got a nice player.

The trade got us an extra pick which turned into dexter Lawrence who has been the best or second best 0 tech in the nfl. One of the best run stuffing DTs and a shockingly high pass rate success.

I suggest you do some more research before starting threads calling out the GM
And Xmen....who has flashed
George from PA : 11/10/2019 7:32 am : link
We can question some of his FA signings....but hus trades and drafts have worked out.

I’d say Jamon brown played at an equal if not higher lever
Peppers playing better than any
Biteymax22 : 11/10/2019 8:28 am : link
Of the 4 players involved in the trade. Saying that the most compensation was tied to Beckham and he’s laying an egg, we definitely got the better of it.

Keep in mind there is massive cap benefits for the next couple years because we made this trade also. Next year we should be able to add 3 FA starters for the cap space we would have had to delegate to Beckham.
Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make.
Ira : 11/10/2019 8:33 am : link
Not paying Landon Collins $14 m per year was a good non-move.
...
christian : 11/10/2019 8:40 am : link
I understand Zeitler is banged up, but Jamon Brown the last 8 games of 2018 was a far superior run blocker and arguably pass protector.

The Beckham side of the trade looks promising, the Vernon side looks like a wash. For the money, cutting Vernon and signing Brown might have been the better investment.
Xman has flashed?
arniefez : 11/10/2019 8:52 am : link
I didn't expect much from a small school rookie and I'm sure the Giants didn't expect to have him play this many snaps. I guess flash must mean a guy getting absolutely destroyed and targeted by every team he plays against. He is literally getting run over all game.
In regards to Jamon Brown
aGiantGuy : 11/10/2019 9:29 am : link
The guy was clearing lanes in the run game but he was always letting very simple stunts lead to free hits on Eli...on the regular. I haven’t seen that from Zeitler, nor have I seen the ability to move dt’s off the ball like Jamon brown did. But Zeitler is also better in space which opens up our screen game, his climbs to the second level are better as well. I would pay the extra money for Zeitler just because I believe with a better rt and c his play will be much better. Go read Sy’s reviews of Jamon Brown last year.

On another note, what about signing Scherff to play RT, too much of a risk?
In hindsight,
Simms11 : 11/10/2019 9:36 am : link
I think Richburg would have turned out to be a good signing. He appears to have developed into a decent Center.

I never really got why it went so south for him here
How can anyone look at the pathetic team we're fielding
WillieYoung : 11/10/2019 10:00 am : link
and say Gettleman's drafts and trades have worked out? 40 of the players on this roster are his. Time to stop blaming Reese for this shitshow. it's Gettleman's now.

Marty866b : 11/10/2019 11:02 am : link
Spot on! This is Gettleman's team and this one may be the worst one yet and that says a lot.

I hear from a lot of sources this guy is playing well. What I don't hear is this guys name during a game. Zeitler's certainly not having a good year but I do blame that on being one of the most poorly coached O-Lines in the league.
Flaw in argument - 1 team made the move to win now the other to rebuid
Eric on Li : 11/10/2019 11:25 am : link
and I think we all know which team was which. I mean, honestly look no further than the ages of the players involved.

Giants - Zeitler (29), Peppers (23), Lawrence (21), Xman (22)

Browns - Vernon (29), OBJ (27)
Why..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/10/2019 11:30 am : link
is the perception that Flowers is playing much better so far??

If he's playing for us the same way he has so far, we're calling him hot garbage. Somehow when he does it for a different team, it is a positive?

Let me guess, Eli Apple is doing great too?

which also goes with Richburg(run out of town on a rail by BBI faithful), Pugh(on the very next rail), Flowers(couldn't be tied to the rail as he kept whiffing).

If you think that DG whiffed on the Cleveland trades, then you really should not be starting threads like this.

You would be the only one. Agree to disagree I guess bit that take seems to just be anti DG. This thread premise leaving out Dex L is beyond stupid

Because it leaves open the misguided hope that all you need is a new coach and voila, everything's great again.

Outcomes despite glaring, repeated evidence that system plays it's part in that.

Since Macadoo I've been ranting about how this Packers lite system is very hard on OL development.

And we are still running the same shit with regards to: denying the trend about line ru action supporting pass outcomes and therefore helping OL development.

That said, no free safeties on the roster and no outstanding athletes at ilb either.
Typo line run action

Unless you think there is a better QB to be had but overall fuck getting the one pass rusher or one Left Tackle. Both teams NEED playerSSSSSSS.

****ANd what is most obvious both need OFENSIVE LINEMEN -- plural - they need MULTIPLE. SO either get in FA or draft or both.
