For whatever it's worth, I do think NYG are better than the Jets right now. We really should win this game... but I totally expect this to be a 'get right' game for Darnold, so we'll see.
I've been harping on this since preseason. Ron and I have discussed the snap-counts of Jones under center. Not just for the benefit of play-action or running, but it breaks up the tendency of predominant passing from the shotgun. There have been very few play-action plays from under center. The simplified scouting report is that whenever DJ is under center, it is a run. A defense certainly has picked up the tendency. DJ is smart enough and more than capable. Shurmur himself made the proclamation before DJ was even drafted that an NFL QB needs to have to play under center. Yet, DJ is now the starter and Shurmur is reluctant to put DJ under center.
need to stop turning the ball over. If they can do that, they have a good chance at winning every game. If you give any team a short field and some momentum, they will most likely take advantage. JETs safeties are very good and so DJ needs to take extra care.
gets a better draft pick and their incompetent head coach fired imo. So why should we root for a win?
I'll root for a 38-45 loss with Jones throwing 5 TDs.
giants_10_88 - I would tend to agree but nothing is going to happen based off this game. Let;s get a win here and we can always drop a loss later against Miami.
Isn't like 'Groundhog Day' for a few seasons with this team Â
They lose the week before. All week it's bashing them and looking to draft etc etc etc and once gameday rolls up next week, there's this hope for a win and you get your hopes up prior.
to fucking Gase and Darnold, only then will Mara/Tisch wake up (unlikely) or the fans will openly revolt.
This culture of hiring people with no resumes, Shermur and Mcadoo being the most recent, and keeping around non productive mascots, and ass canning the greatest Giants OC of all time who bought us Moon and Manning and a HoF HC who turned around 3 shit programs, needs to be completely flushed down the toilet.

I'd disagree, Diehl just said that fans have no idea how important this game is to both ownership groups. A loss here and a loss to Miami at home in December would seal Shurmur's fate. I'm hoping for a 35-21 loss with three Jones TDs and a clean game. Too many points scored and dopey Mara will tell himself well its clearly the defense that is the problem and just fire Betcher.
Today, needs to bring about a change to the whole regime, without question. This would be bottom for this franchise. This might be the worst Jets team since the mid 90s. I don’t want to hear injury excuses, etc.
With no turnovers' we should be good enough to beat NYJ. Go Giants!
Yelberton Abraham -- maybe we hung close based on the score, but the Giants were savaged all day long at the line of scrimmage both sides of the ball. That last Dallas game felt like we were getting the stuffing kicked out of us from the starting whistle to the final whistle!
Like I'm sure all of you, I love the Giants and hate to see them lose. I'd love to see them dominate the Jets and win this here Toilet Bowl and feel good about ourselves for a minute. Getting some momentum, and some positive experiences for DJ, Saquon and young D can really add up into positive future gains.
But on the flip side, winning today will almost definitely hurt our draft slot and might saddle us with another year of this coaching regime. Maybe not all of the coaches, and maybe not just on this one game, but maybe... right? We've been theorizing that a loss here would be more than the Maras can take. So I'm on the fence. I hate for the Giants to lose any game, but its debatable that a win is really good for the franchise right now.
For me, I guess it'll be a win if everyone just stays healthy.

I agree, but I'm rooting for a win today, then lose out, finish 3-13 and clean house.

Come on guys. The draft is a crap shoot where 50% of the players selected in the first round will be busts. We're playing the Jets today and some folks here are concerned about draft position? Good grief!

To be fair - Giants won the time of possession battle too. So, it wasn't complete domination.
Seems like the best outcome long term. Looking at the schedule there’s a possibility the Giants could win 4 or 5 of their remaining games which will hurt their draft position and make Shurmur an easier sell for 2020.
That will trigger change. No turnovers for Jones. No injuries.
A competent coach would gameplan and stick to it run out of the I often with the highest rated player since Peyton Manning and PA pass a lot to reduce the TOs that have been a clear problem since day 1.

There is a huge delta between top 10 picks and the back half of the draft, especially at non QB. I don't really give a shit about draft position though, that shit takes care of itself. What matters is that there is zero argument for this coaching staff can come back, we know how Mara errs on that side of caution. I'd rather start fresh with a program builder, or a young d coordinator like salah or maybe richards.
I feel like everyone wants the next great offensive coordinator for HC and these defensive guys get overlooked and I think there is value there. Salah especially I think fits the profile of someone taht can become a very good head coach. Smart, analytical, experience both sides of the ball, energy. Guy seems to have it all but who knows if him and DG can coexist.
..and if that means getting in their grill and screaming in their earhole, fine with me. Giants players make the same mistakes game after game and no one really seems to give a shit!
but im rooting for a loss. Yeah we'll be the laughingstock of the league but it's worth it in the long run if it will bring changes and wake up dufus mara . Not worried about draft position too much , but if it improves the chances that both shurmur and gettleman are gone then a loss to the jets while embarrassing is worth it to me .
RE: We need a head coach that demands accountability of his players... Â

PS doesn't hesitate to chew the refs ear off for half an hour, but when is the last time you seen him yell at a player? Never really thought about that, but its kind of telling. Its one thing if you aren't the type to yell and shit, but if your players see you yelling at the refs for a hot minute and then never at them, what type of message does that send?
That he doesn't hold his players accountable and looks for external factors to blame. Sometimes that may be true, but that is not the message you send be sending. Total ownership and accountability is important.
Have never rooted for a loss all the years I've been on this team's bandwagon and I'm not about to start. It's not about draft position. It's about this game. Go Giants!
Cannot root for a loss. Especially against the Jets. Â
Jets are going to run a lot of stunts to try and confuse the OL and disrupt their chemistry, especially with a new C and RT. They will also likely try and beat Gates around the edge. Like almost everyone else, they should be able to control our OL with just four or five DL, and drop everyone else into coverage against our receivers who have trouble separating.
On defense, we need to generate pressure, which may be possible against their subpar OL. But if we can't, then Darnold will pick our secondary apart. We blow a lot coverages, and our LBs and safeties have had problems covering all year.
Of not getting that excited nervous feeling on game days anymore.
I want a win but realize a loss may facilitate some changes. Part of me thinks Gettleman Shurmur need to be here next year to keep things stable and part of more feels as if they are not the solution. It truly is a terrible time to be a diehard fan of this team. I’m 56 years old so I’ve seen a lot.
There is no way in hell I could root for the Giants to lose to the Jet Â
FOR SALE
FOR SALE
There we go, that will solve everything...
Can't wait.
I hope the porous o line of the Jets and maybe L Williams having some insight won’t allow Sam to throw.
I keep going back and forth as expectation. I want this win but can see a loss and all the embarrassment that comes with it.
Like arc - on paper we should win but we’ve lost games like this in the past.
I'll root for a 38-45 loss with Jones throwing 5 TDs.

And it goes south again and again and again..
Wearing on one just to keep going..

Of course we have major issues on multiple fronts. Still, a win is a win and this one is winnable, IMO.

Yes still playoff possibility

I'm usually right there with you during these brutal seasons, but I am willing to shelve that because it's the abyss losing to Jets College.

No matter what the outcome, the equation remains the same: Giants = Abyss

Go Giants!

Happy Veterans Day.
I want this one bad. We have plenty of games to lose. Come on Giants,
Let’s win this.
We have plenty of days to suck - let’s win today!!!

And now we have 4 starters injured and out on offense.
Dallas has significant injuries and actually had a great 2nd half to almost tie it.
Plus while the patriots had a big win over jets on Monday night, we hung with the pats on the road, bad weather with some injuries.
That being said - none of that matters in 20 minutes
And now we have 4 starters injured and out on offense.
True...and then Jets College just got manhandled by Miami CC.
