I like him overall and he's in a difficult spot. Tough kid, throws the ball well. Would like to see him throw it beyond five yards down field every now and then.
We'll know more next season, need a new coach and a better supporting cast.
have most of those fumbles. It's not an excuse but man he takes a beating. Now all the pass rushers are going for the strip sack. But he certainly has the tealent. Jets defense was better than ours today for sure despit the 4 TD passes. They made the stops when they had to.
I love how the thread starter says they are correctable

He completed 65% of his passes for 308 yards and 4 TDs without his top 2 targets and 3 backup OLineman. That isn't playing well?
RE: I love how the thread starter says they are correctable
if you focus on the fact that we likely have our next franchise QB. That is so huge. In 10 years 2019 won't be remembered as a 4-12(or worse) debacle but rather the first year of the Jones era. That's assuming he learns to hold on to the ball of course.
you would think he would have had one without a turnover. Yet every week Where is the improvement and evidence that he will fix it? I'll believe it when I see it. maybe im just pissed we lost to this shitty jets team. Shurmur and Gettleman better get fired.
would help if the offensive line wasnt the worst in the NFL. Jets had13 sacks on the season coming in and recorded 6 today. Barkley had one yard on 13 carries. The Jets were practically intercepting the handoffs. On the last play of the game, they rushed three against our 5 linemen ( assuming no TE stayed in) and still got a hit on DJ. The FA linemen weve signed to upgrade have been a miserable failure. Ereck Flowers would be our second best lineman, maybe our best lineman, if he had stayed. You cant bring a stronger indictment against this organization than what you saw on the field against an inept opponent today.
And yes, I was around for the late 70s teams and this team is equally as bad as any team Ive ever seen the Giants put on the field.
He completed 65% of his passes for 308 yards with 4 TD passes and 20 rushing yards. He has Cody Latimer, Bennie Fowler, Golden Tate and a rookie 5th round pick at WR. Rhett Ellison as his starting TE. Played behind an OL that was playing Eric Smith, Nick Gates & Spencer Pulley. With a RB that gained a whopping 1 yard. What do you expect from him?
All the bs noise going on around this teams problems Daniel Jones has a definite ball retention problem so going forward who ever is calling plays or blocking... blah blah blah..This needs to stop or none of the other chit matters
He definitely has some potential and has earned the benefit of the
doubt, but I wouldn't be thanking God for him just yet, he might not pan out. Ball security issues are nothing to gloss over, and although they might be correctable nothing is guaranteed.

The ball security and awareness is a legitimate concern. But some here expect him to be 2007 Tom Brady. Its ridiculous

Hes not progressing, same mistakes every game.
I expect to see progress... his ball security is an issue at this point and I would like to see better decision making. Hes not playing intelligent football. Its a given that he is going to turn the ball over at least 2x a game.

The concern should be with the coaching staff. Why is the ball security and pocket awareness not improving, what are you guys doing to address that. Why is the play calling inconsistent and putting him in poor positions to succeed
RE: Yup and 300 yds and 4 TDs with a 120 QB rating
While getting sacked 6 times, missing 3 OL and no TE or starting Wr and he catches shit here as a rookie. Kid will be an all pro.
I didnt say the kid was garbage! Do you not agree his ball security and overall awareness is a major issue at this point? And would you not expect to see some type of improvement before he gets killed?! Like...oh shit this line sucks I better not hold onto the ball for the standard 3 secs and get rid of it at 1.5
The hits and fumbles that come from his line of vision
Where the pressure is coming from hell never reach his potential. He is a turnover machine and will remain one until that changes. I dont know if thats a learned skill. I hope it is. If it is there is no one to teach him on this coaching staff. If hes stuck with this HC for another year he may never be a winning QB. He certainly isnt one now.

Youll see him throw the ball behind five yards now and then when the A)Giants can provide enough time for those routes to develop B)The Giants have more than one receiver thats a downfield threat. Slayton is a good downfield option, its not the strength of the remaining receivers however.
I highly doubt this coaching staff is capable of correcting any fumbling issue. We dont even have a QB coach.
For the life of me I still can't figure this one out. You have a rookie QB and no QB coach. The rest of the league has QB coaches. And you have a HC who does his own playcalling when the team is circling the drain.
Why the fuck do the Giants insist on always trying to outsmart everyone?
and the running back gives a non-competitive block, but the QB is the main issue here? Both fumbles had that in common... an o-lineman being shoved directly back on top of the QB and a horrendous block by the running back.
We'll know more next season, need a new coach and a better supporting cast.
He also accounted for 4tds.
he's a rookie playing behind nate solder and mike remmers' fucking backups. This is probably the worst supporting cast in the league.
Eli level bad also go us Two superbowls. I will deal if that is the result again.
He also threw for 4 TDs. JFC.

8 games. The defense is historically bad as is the o line.
Maybe when his OL and RBs do an even decent job of blocking?
EXACTLY!!!
We have no clue whether or not this is correctable. Just another rah rah Go Giants take!
This guy must be related to Darnold right? If someone said Jones makes a mean Mac n cheese he would say he overcooks the pasta.
A lot of Giants fans are dumb. The Giants have a lot of problems. The entire coaching staff, OL, WRs and defense. DJ is not one of them.
Lamar Jackson had 15 fumbles in 9 starts last year. Jared Goff was in double digits last year.

No respect for fumblers

His fumbles today were on Saquon Barkley and his pathetic attempts at pass blocking.

He doesn't seem to have that awareness to get his ass out of that pocket or throw the ball away...almost ever.
Tough kid though...plenty to like. And some to worry about too.
Exactly, and he gave them the lead
We'll know more next season, need a new coach and a better supporting cast.

DJ is the future, needs the 2020 version of Coughlin for the next 12 years, who ever that is.
DJ is the future and gave fans the spark we needed but this team needs the 2020 version of Coughlin for the next 12 years. It aint Pat.

get the fuck out of here with this idiocy.
