Darius Slayton

BestFeature : 11/10/2019 6:30 pm
I'm trying really hard to be positive. So here's a kid that I'm pretty sure no one can say a bad thing about. 5th round pick, without much playing time, especially early on in the season he's on pace for 800 yards and 10 TDs. The yards aren't THAT amazing, but still solid #2 receiver numbers, but 10 TDs is pretty damn great. And they haven't even used him much as a deep threat.
Agreed
EJJ : 11/10/2019 6:33 pm : link
I think SY had Slayton rated #2 WR in the draft? He defiantly had him as a sleeper pick
On a team that some could argue is the worst in the league...

Yep...Think we may have found our franchise QB and #1

wide receiver in the same draft. They could be real special next year. His numbers stack up well with most #1's this year and he didn't get much playing time initially.
He's really coming along. Whether he'll be a 1 or a 2, it's hard to
Ira : 11/10/2019 6:39 pm : link
say this early. But he looks like a starting wideout.

I doubt his yards and catches do. But he's also a 5th round rookie.
Not sure how people say we can't get someone better then Williams

With early 3rd and 4th but yet like Slayton a 5th rounder
The best part is while he hasn't been perfect with fumbles
BestFeature : 11/10/2019 6:41 pm : link
He has been kept them at a reasonable level. So his weakness is not as bad as we thought and his strength hasn't been too much on display and he's showing other things. I'm very excited.
Not fumbles

Can't and unlikely are two different things. But yeah DG has been pretty good later on in the draft.
For

a fifth round pick, he's been tremendous. He also clearly has an excellent rapport with Jones.

L William's is a defensive end with 0 sacks this year in 9 games, I'm sure, no one was even going on a bidding war with for that bum
Could be somethingl,if he continues to improve.
TMS : 11/10/2019 6:50 pm : link
Seems to have a connection to DJ that's getting better. Any Receiver with his athletic skills who can run routes and has good receiving skills is very special. If he and the QB are on the same wave length. Could we be that lucky?
We'll never know

looks like a real find in the 5th round

like Ira said, may not be a #1 guy but certainly a starter.
I don’t get the trying to be positive comment

Slayton is going to be a good player in the NFL.

Bum?? He was all over Darnold all game, but continue with your narrative.

Jets OL is even way worse then Giants comparing the salary plus Jets starting C and both guards out but Jets still put up 27 points...In other words he was trash and didn't do anything that would deserve a 3rd, 4th picks plus a 14mill signing
His hands and route running were the main concerns
Jay on the Island : 11/10/2019 7:43 pm : link
He has surprised in both areas. His hands haven’t been a problem at all. He’s had a few drops but overall he’s made some excellent catches so far.
We don’t know if he will be a #1 WR but he is a starting caliber WR already.

If he takes another step forward next season the Giants are set at one spot. His arrival came at a crucial time with Shepard’s concussion issues. They still have a need at the position but it’s not dire. This is a strong WR class so the Giants will likely add another one at some point.
he's been a real find and seems like can be a starting 3 receiver
MM_in_NYC : 11/10/2019 7:52 pm : link
even a #2. while i have little faith in our management's ability to strategize this should enable us to prioritize other key areas and devote our significant free resources this offseason to defense and oline.

Danny Kanell : 11/10/2019 8:29 pm : link
He’s a good player. A definite nice find. He reminds me of Amani Toomer.

You must have completely forgotten Toomer's first three seasons with the Giants, in terms of stats and production.

Besides being about the same height, weight, and build, they couldn't be more different as players. Slayton is not at all a "body catcher". Toomer was a horrible "body catcher" almost exclusively when he first started playing.
I love him

The guy has looked good.

Like Jones he has things to work on, but they are rookies so there is hope.

#5 rated WR with a 79, which he projects as a Day 2 pick and 2nd year starter.

Because: 1) Williams is better than many here believe. He was easily the best player on the D yesterday (4 QBHits) and 2) You can get some better, but the odds of even getting a starter are ~30%.

Now, it's debatable whether dealing for Williams was worth it when he was set to be a FA, but if you watched him play these last 2 games and still don't think he can be part of the solution going forward, I'm not sure what to tell you.
