You can feel the misery in the stadium at home games. Even the parking lot, which would normally be jammed by 9 a.m., is 1/4 empty at noon. It’s starting to legit hit the fanbase finally. Sucks.
All in the name of "the Giants Way" like his father did after Lombardi/Landry. It all started with the new stadium and then the proverbial parade of mistakes.
Second half I threw the football outside in the yard with the kids. Much more fun.
But I’ve never had such apathy for this team - even though I’m big on Jones, Barkley, Golden, Slayton and a few others for the future. I’ll watch every snap as always but I’m deflated in terms of emotional investment.
I would have never missed games in the past.
I am 48 and luck enough to really start watch around 1980.
I recorded the game and went to my daughter's basketball practice and shot around after.
I will skim through it tomorrow but I don't get emotional about it anymore.
Some of the Coughlin seasons were disappointing and the Fassel and Reeves eras fell a little flat the last year or two but this is outrageous and really depressing.
This is non competitive, inept, sloppy, ugly, unmotivated, disjointed, I’m not even going to call it football.
They make a couple interesting drives during the game but in today’s offense happy and QB protect mode it’s not as impressive. Overall they are so bereft of impact and consistency in so many areas of the roster. One year discipline is a big problem, the next it’s gameplanning, the next it’s roster depth, the next it’s inability to educate and improve, the next it’s adjustments and injuries.
And i had a built in iron clad excuse to miss some stupid lunch engagement my wife doesn’t even like going to every year. I would rather go to that and save a few bucks than watch this sad sack of shit team, in person.
Between the nfl product deteriorating, the MetLife experience always sucking and the giants finding ways to get even even worse than 2013-2015, I am this close. Call me fair weather I don’t care, watching this team lose like this for so long is just killing me. It’s too painful. Love the giants so much but there has to be some hope at some point and I’m scared there isn’t.
And it's why I didn't even watch the game today. Why would I? To get frustrated and annoyed so I'm in a bad mood for the rest of my weekend?
There's a feeling fans have where they are at least tuning in every week to support an attractive style of football. They may lose and the team may just be outmatched in terms of talent. I think we'd all agree this is certainly ONE of the problems the Giants have.
However, when I watch vanilla, boring, uncreative, uninspiring, and generally unattractive dipshit play calling - that's when I lose my patience.
I don't mind if we lose, heck I don't mind if we lose a lot because, as I said, right now we don't have a good team compared to others. But we don't even game plan, it seems, to utilize our best players. And worse, our players aren't progressing they're regressing. I don't see the OL becoming this cohesive unit that we all hoped for. I see them staying as bad as they were last year and in the first 4 games of the season.
I don't see our defence and the players on that side of the ball doing anything that makes me go "ok we've got something with this player, he looks good" - I just go wow these guys fucking suck.
It starts at the top and trickles down, but I honestly can't fathom how John Mara is going to just sit back and watch another 7 games of this shit. Shurmur is a bum and he may be a nice man, that's great. But he's not a good HC. This is a performance-based business and why any owner/executive would say "well, we've always done it this way so we have to give him a full season" is the DEFINITION of insanity, and stupidity. You know what you have to do in 1.5 months, so why not just do it now and at LEAST start instilling some accountability into this organization that failure won't be tolerated and allowed to continue.
It's sickening. This is supposed to be a proud, legacy organization and ownership group. I feel like we're being laughed at by the clown organizations of the NFL.
There's countless examples of where I ask myself "what was the 'plan' there?"
Eli being kept with his massive salary when it's pretty obvious Jones was the guy.
Bettcher being given some sort of carte blanche to bring in all his old crew from Arizona.
Bringing Saquon back after 3 weeks out with a high ankle sprain, and then the fucking STUPIDITY OF STUBBORNNESS to not put Gallman in when Barkley's pass pro has been horrendous.
The LACK of help to our OL or any type of scheme to help a CLEARLY incompetent OL.
It goes on and on.
I just won't watch games if I have something better to do.
I truly believe a coaching change is needed at year end..... Â
there’s no way that this coaching staff turns this mess around even next year. There’s no improvement now, none. Unless they win out, which is highly unlikely, I think there’ll be a change. I hate to keep changing coaches and staff, but Giants made a mistake and have to own up to it.
I was excited when the started Jones even went to the Redskins game and left pumped!
Not just losing but the way they loose is depressing. They are an embarrassment. The state of the coaching staff gives me little faith in the future of this team.
I'm not watching this season - not unless they make a change Â
But were saddled with a perennial loser of a head
coach . this team is so poorly coached you don't
need to be an expert to see it .
Yes we had one very costly miss on Soldier but the
last two drafts look pretty solid the bad is
we need three starters and it takes time to gel '
Golden has bounced back ad has had a very good season.
I am fine with DG but the staff needs to go .
There was the rare cold front that brought mid-70's, blue skies, and no humidity to the area. Yet, I made the choice to watch the game. Pisses me off. One thing is for certain is that I won't make the same mistake next week.
And watched it on DVR. You can see an entire game in 45 minutes or so. Much less exposure that way. Not dedicating any full Sundays to football until the Giants are a semi legitimate organization. They aren't now. I don't believe in tanking and was rooting for them. But waste my Sundays....no more.
But it’s just that it’s been bad for too long....my son is starting to lose interest. He loves the NFL and the Giants, but he’s 10 years old. He started getting into 7 years ago. Terrible run.
But it’s just that it’s been bad for too long....my son is starting to lose interest. He loves the NFL and the Giants, but he’s 10 years old. He started getting into 7 years ago. Terrible run.

He got into watching the Giants at 3 years old?
Yes, maybe 4. He would sit through an entire game at the stadium and knew a good amount of players.
With Mara ownership we are well on our way to another
era of 18 years of bad football and a plane flying
over the Meadowlands to let the world know.
This franchise is a joke. It is going nowhere,
building nothing and will continue that way
as long as John Mara is a part of the football decision
making.
And won't be until reasonable fans can see a sound way forward to a new GM, a new Coach, and way better evaluations of player football talent, all aimed at securing better on the field performance. The Giants today get an F in all of these. Fs are no fun.
It's become exhausting to root for these losers. People laugh at you now for being a Giants fan. Does Mara give a damn? You have to wonder. If he doesn't he's going to lose it all. He's the top boob, the boob in charge. They'll start snickering at him and his family in restaurants, at their clubs, in their children's schools. Surely that's already begun with this mess of his -- and it is his, not someone else's. A mess for which there can be no sound excuse.
It sucks, I'm pissed, but I keep it in perspective.
If I saw the "building", I would be on board. But I don't see the foundation being built at all.
I am really dissapointed in the OL.
Take for instance Hernandez....he looked like a quality pick in Round 2.
But he doesn't even stick out in a good way in his second year. I mean...he looks absolutely average and he's probably our best lineman.
Do any players here get better from year 1 to year 2? This is why we don’t sign anyone to 2nd contracts and have to dive into FA to improve the roster. Coaching/player development and talent evaluation is sorely lacking here. That’s on PS and DG.
Second half I threw the football outside in the yard with the kids. Much more fun.
I really need to know what this sentence means
It’s a total bummer that Giants football gives us so little to look forward to the last few years
I am 48 and luck enough to really start watch around 1980.

Ugh.
Frankly, it was a more constructive use of my time.
Love coming to the site, enjoy the opinions, the passion, but the apathy is a big negative to the site
Just like the 70s

Are you not familiar with what the word apathy means?

Years and years of losing.
Mara can't get it fixed.
Something has to change, otherwise it's just insanity.
Only to get excited to see them claw back and take the lead, and then completely fall apart on offense and defense to finish the game.
In fact, numbing since about Dec 2016...

Yeah......looks like we've got a QB with exceptional accuracy. Just need to build around him.
I've said this before, DG/PS can't worry about what happened from 2013 thru 2017.
But, the arrow is pointing down in Year 2 of this regime so someone has to fall on the sword.
Shurmur is my choice.
P.S. - I think Shurmur sucks

This is a complete delusion.

They are 49-72 since the 2012 season. This isn't re-building; it's ineptitude by ownership.
