So Mara can storm into his end of year press conference and talk about accountability and not accepting losing and point to firing him a day before as evidence of his take-no-prisoners way of running the team.

Well generally you would make one of your coordinator the interim coach. Shurmur, being no dummy, hired Shula and Bettcher knowing you could not possibly let one of them takeover.
The Giants starting OL is bad so take out starters then a 3rd starter. Take out Shepard and Engram plus a rookie QB against a Gregg Williams blitzing defense. And, don’t get me started with a defense with a weak pass rush and a secondary that can’t cover. Why is anyone surprised they lost?
