Numbers are parentheses is NYG games back in SOS compared to each team. (Big negative numbers are good for NYG winning tiebreak and picking ahead).
1. CIN 0-9 (-9.5) #
2. WAS 1-8 (-7.5) ## see below
3. NYG 2-8
4. MIA 2-7 (-1)
5. NYJ 2-7 (-1.5)
6. ATL 2-7 (-16) ##
7. CLE 3-6 (-5)
8. DEN 3-6 (-9.5) #
9. TB 3-6 (-9.5) #
10. ARI 3-6-1
11. DET 3-5-1
## almost certainly pick behind NYG in case of a tie
# likely to pick behind NYG in case of a tie
In this listing, ties are broken using the stregth of schedule (SOS) based on the current records of all 16 opponents (division opponents count twice).
Lower SOS picks earlier. The NFL puts out draft order that doesn't include an opponents record in a team's SOS until that team plays that opponent.
Right now the Giants 16 opponents are 68-76 (.472).
If the Giants end up tied with WAS (whether they beat WAS or not),
the team that picks ahead is the team that wins fewer games against the following two teams. You can see the Giants would almost certainly pick ahead.
NYG: ARI, TB. Currently 6.5 wins (12.5 losses)
WAS: CAR, SF. Currently 13 wins (4 losses)
A similar tiebreak occurs for NYJ and MIA.
NYJ: JAC, OAK Currently 9 wins (9 losses)
MIA: LAC, IND Currently 9 wins (10 losses)
Note that these exciting matchups should generate wins by the bottom teams:
CIN-MIA
CIN-NYJ
MIA-NYJ
NYJ-WAS
NYG-MIA
NYG-WAS
2. OT Andrew Thomas
3. OT Tristan Wirfs
4. LB Isaiah Simmons
5. CB Jeff Okudah
6. WR Jerry Jeudy
Don't have to worry about listing more than 5-6 guys because Giants will be picking early.
Keep losing.

I’d say
Young
Thomas
Jeudy
Simmons
Okudah
It probably will. Giants have philly twice, Chicago, Green Bay, and Miami. They may win one of those games.
Maybe that’s been the plan all along ...
I really, really hope so.
I get the fascination with Chase Young but no single player is going to turn this team into a winner. They need quality players at too many positions.
The best case scenario is the Giants get one of the top 2 picks, at which point, they would be well-positioned to trade down, hopefully get one of the top two OTs, which is a critical need, and oh by the way, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have two first round picks in the 2021 draft when Trevor Lawrence will likely be making the jump to the NFL.

The offers may come in, but we currently have a GM who has NEVER traded down in his career in any round. And he learned under a GM who also never traded down. So, he'll just say that he got offers, but they were for "coffee and a bag of donuts," or something like that.

I absolutely think the Giants should have Okudah on their board. The problem is, they are stupid. They have drafted 3 cornerbacks the past two years (4 if you count Love) and I am sure they believe they aren't in need of another one.

While that's true, I don't believe Gettleman has ever been in the situation where it made this much sense to trade down, where the return could be transformational to the organization.
I think this draft is similar to the 2016 draft where the Browns (idiotically) traded down with the Eagles from #2, where the Eagles took Wentz.
The Browns traded #2 and a 2017 4th rounder.
The Eagles traded #8, a 3rd and a 4th in the 2016 draft, a first round pick in the 2017 draft, and a 2nd round pick in the 2018 draft.
And I think the Giants could even do a little better, because I think Tua might be a bit better of a prospect (less risk) than Wentz. Perhaps flip the 3rd rounder to a 2nd rounder, and drop the following year's 4th on the giveaway side.
The Giants should still be picking top 10, have two 2nds, two 4ths, and two firsts in the 2021 draft, as well as an extra 2nd in the 2022 draft. I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat. You'd be able to address both OT spots and edge rusher in the first 43 picks of the draft or so.
A truly dynamic edge rusher almost turns around the whole defensive front 7.
Only almost because of the minus that Ogletree brings.
Autocorrect on the phone...

The ideal scenario IMO would be the Giants at 2 with Miami at 3. Bengals take Burrows at 1 and the Dolphins worried someone might offer us more to get Tua, give the Giants a similar package that SD got when we traded for Eli.
Giants get Young at 3 , Miami's #1 next year, and hopefully a little more to move back one spot.
