I think Steve's referring to Shurmur ducking WFAN, which I can see - but using Papa's interview as an example is too funny. That's advertising, not some sort of meaningful interview.

Amazing how teams have created their own media departments and some of this stuff passes as "news". Papa and the bunch are in house lackeys that tow the company line. Shurmur hasn’t done enough “extra”’ or voluntary interviews to suit you, aside from coaching the team? Hate that for you, bud. Back to my original point- I want to hear from the front office and see them squirm.

DG and JM would spend 90% of their time blaming this on injuries and youth. So not sure I want to hear that anyhow.

He needs to let them know he understands how unacceptable these results are and that he will make necessary changes at the end of the season.

His customers are pissed. The results have been god awful since the 2012 season (with one $200MM FA year, '16, as the only exception). People are paying big money for these tickets, parking, PSLs, AND spending their time on this product. He has to send the message that he feels their anger/pain and will make changes.

Failure to speak to his customer base could potentially erode that fan base now, and down the road.
