how you can have 5-11 year followed up by what is turning into a 2-14 year and keep the coaching staff.
I would think Shurmur just needs to show improvement on last year in order to keep his job. But right now the team needs to win 4 of the remaining 6 to beat last year's terrible record. I don't see how they finish higher than 4-12, and even that might be a stretch.
But I bet Shurmur does and all his coaches are fired instead. Then Mara will parade himself in front of the camera to give his "Pat knows he's on notice" nonsense that he says every offseason about someone that should have been fired but wasn't.

Folks keep saying this, but I don't buy it. Mara gave Coughlin a long leash because Coughlin had earned it. He canned both McAdoo and Reese a year after a pretty impressive 11-5 season.
If this season ends with the Giants at another 3-13 record like I expect and he gives Shurmur a pass, I'll be right there with you. But so far, the only guys I've seen him give too many passes to are guys who earned the benefit of the doubt through a body of work that won two championships.
Aside from the losing, there are things that threaten PS's job:
1) The team falling behind every week, then having to come back. This stuff happens to all teams occasionally. It happens to the Giants every damn week. Whether its players being mentally unprepared, or bad game planning, or both, that's on the coaching.
2) Some very, VERY questionable game management decisions. He looks in over his head on that stuff.
3) So-so offense. Zero production from Barkley. No running game. Fewer rollouts. Almost no designed rushing attempts for Jones.
The losing wouldn't be as bad if there was obvious progress, but there really isn't.
