Carr if not protected? He is getting beaten up at an alarming rate, and I'm not sur how it gets better with good DLs coming up on the schedule and DJ showing a propensity to hold onto the ball too long.
Give it a rest.....you obviously aren’t a Hiants fan, are you?
What did you think of Barkley’s day?
I am concerned about his well being. Even last year, we were all concerned about Eli seeing ghosts rushing him. At what point does that happen to DJ?
No, he’s hanging in there as well as rookie QBs Simms, Aikman, Eli and Goff... Yes, Giants38 is an absolute dork... and he has no real concern for DJ... he just wants to pile on... DJ will make it through despite the absence of a seasoned OL or a lame Pro Bowl RB

Well, thank you for calling me a dork. I'm going to bed. But I have serious concern about him maintaining his health; he gets lit up every week.
Humiliating scores, far worse than a one TD loss to the Jets when Wake Forest kicked Duke's ass.
I'm more concerned if he's the type that does just enough to keep losing. I think he's better than that, I hope so, but I am not yet convinced he is.
His lack of awareness around the pocket and particularly the threats around him is frankly alarming. He's tough like Eli, but his getting killed is partly, maybe a good amount, on him. For various reasons.
Well, I posted this a few days ago before the Jets game... Â
...Daniel Jones: my biggest concern right now are the number of sacks (not to mention hits) he's taken in the 7 games he has started so far. Pro-rated over an entire season, his sack level would be 59, and while that's not in the same neighborhood as David Carr's rookie year with Houston (76), 59 sacks is a very, very alarming number.
How will this impact our rookie QB down the line. Will he start taking his eyes off the downfield and looking at his feet (ala Kerry Collins?); or getting rid of the ball too quickly (ala Eli Manning?); or develop some other early bad habit that will hinder his play in the years to come?
The Giants have got to be real careful now. More game-time experience doesn't mean shit if Daniel Jones continues to be harassed, bounced around and battered in the pocket. Our offensive line is melting down right before our eyes, and if this continues, I say sit Daniel Jones and let him watch the game from the sidelines. The last thing this desperate team needs is to develop a gun-shy QB who is supposed to be the future of this franchise.

DJ had both backup tackles starting their 1st NFL games, a backup center, A Saquon Barkley who shouldn't be playing yet, no Sterling Shepard or Engram yet he threw 4 TDs with no Ints.
However he does need work on his fumbling which can be corrected.
I don't believe in this theory that he was just shell shocked, and that turned him into a below average QB. He always held onto the ball for way too long, and in todays NFL, he would've gotten killed.
taking the hits was always the big excuse but he was never very good. Jones is a gamer who’s taking hits and still producing. Carr had 9 passing TDs his entire rookie year. Jones is on pace for 26 and is already 1 TD shy of Carr’s peak season total.
Not comparable other than you want Jones to not get hurt.
What you're seeing is very similar to what he went through every game at Duke. He's used to a porous OL and getting hit a lot. He won't be mentally phased by it. That was a big part of his appeal.
At least here, his receivers frequently catch the ball. That's an upgrade over his Duke teams.
know what they are. First we need to upgrade the offensive line - especially at tackle. Second, he needs to throw the ball sooner. Third, he needs to slide when he runs into traffic - even if it costs us a first down. And fourth, we need receivers - and play calls - that lead to seperation.
In 2011, Eli Manning took as brutal a beating as the 21st century NFL permits, and shrugged it off en route to SB 46. Two years later, he was curling up in the fetal position under imaginary pressure. and that was without ever actually being injured. A bad enough line, and a long string of losses, will take a toll on the toughest QB.
Not that it will ruin his psyche or drastically alter his play, but he might get seriously injured. These are biggest baddest dudes in the world taking multiple free running shots at him every week.
RE: It can happen to anyone. David Carr is just an extreme example. Â

Fair point re Eli, but I got the sense that Eli was actually coached into those reactions, to limit his TOs. The "live to fight another day (or play)" type mentality. Certainly that was something McAdoo coached up.

Thanks for reminding us.
Getting hurt? yes Crumbling? I don't see it.Toughest player on the team by far.
However he does need work on his fumbling which can be corrected.

He was in fact, not okay, he was pissed off and demanded a new helmet so he could right back in and beat that team.
Jones will be fine.
Agreed. And it looks like it's adversely effecting him to my eyes. Even though his pocket presence is still not great.
Issue is, DJ plays behind a worse o-line. How many times does he even get to his second read without someone bearing down on him?
Carr would hold the ball until guys were "college open", not NFL open. Hence....the sack.
Carr had 3 games with 3 TDs in his career (94 games, 79 starts). Jones already has 3 games with 4 TDs.
