Daniel Jones

mdthedream : 11/11/2019 8:04 am
He at least shows up to play 308 yards and 4 tds and some really gutsy runs. I give the kid a lot of credit he does not give up. We need Barkley to get going.
He has

thrown for 2000yds 15tds and 8 ints in what 8 games that is pretty damn good on a shitty team.
Heard a stat on WFAN this morning
figgy2989 : 11/11/2019 8:08 am : link
Unsure if it is true, but if he has another 4 TD game, he will tie the NFL record for most 4+TD games in a season.

Most for a rookie I believe but still impressive.
His fumbles are a continuing problem, but he's looked very good in

every other area. I'm very pleased with Jones.
If you include the TD he handed to Adams,
BlueLou'sBack : 11/11/2019 8:12 am : link
he had a 5 TD game, right?

(Ducks...)
Thanks Zeke

Yes, should have clarified the stat, it is for rookies.
The fumbles are a problem
mdthedream : 11/11/2019 8:17 am : link
but it would also help if they actually blocked the edge guy for at least a second LOL!
zero reservations about Jones..
nzyme : 11/11/2019 8:17 am : link
He's the guy. I have no reservations about him. For him to play as well as he has without any run game whatsoever and this OL is impressive as hell.

The people I have questions about is Shurmur and his staff.
one of the more compelling reasons to watch this team down the stretch
Giantsfan79 : 11/11/2019 8:23 am : link
is that Daniel Jones is 13 TD passes away from taking the most TD passes by a rookie QB away from Baker Mayfield. If Jones were to set the record that could provide some satisfaction to an otherwise shit season.
I'd love to see him beat Baker's record. He does have a chance.

I thought he looked great yesterday all things considered.

The fumbles are a concern as all have said
jvm52106 : 11/11/2019 8:40 am : link
but how can you not be impressed with what he is doing all things considered. Imagine this team if they had Kept him on the bench and continued to play Eli. I suspect we would be 0-10 right now. Jones keeps drives going with his legs when he has to and has moved away from pressure enough (though more designed moves would be better) to buy time. Plus, he has shown a pretty decent arm and accuracy.

This isn't a knock on Eli, he would be getting killed back there or just throwing passes into the ground and away. Some turnovers now might not have been with Eli but 3 and outs would be way up and our weak ass defense would fold much sooner than they have (see NE, Dallas, AZ etc.).
DJ is a stud
Gettledogman : 11/11/2019 8:46 am : link
Looks good and continues to impress. Need a line been saying that since 2011 that can block.
Jones turnovers puts the D in a bad spot..
penkap75 : 11/11/2019 8:51 am : link
And we are always playing from behind.
So DJ is always trying to throw himself out of the hole he dug.

But there is still hope in Jones to improve. But to blow off his serious turnover tendency is ignorant at this point. His turn overs are a massive problem and he either fixes at some point or washes out.

I watch the games going forward I have no problem if they lose, as long as DJ has a good game.

going to get hurt before the end of the year. You cannot take the kind of hits he regularly takes and survive.

Absolutely accurate. When Jone's finishes his actual drop, has about second or 2, then fumbles, its 100% on him. I believe more than 85% of his fumbles are on the Tackles.
A rookie please remember

interesting. thanks Gf79 for that info. It would be awesome if Daniel could do that, especially after a-hole Baker's comments.

Fumbles and pocket awareness need to get cleaned up. Teams are now looking to swat at him when they get close. Adams made Jones fumble twice yesterday, but thankfully Barkley caught one before the Jets pounced. He keeps his eyes downfield well and is always looking to make a play, but he needs to move better and know when defenders are closing in. I think it’s an innate ability, but he needs to really work on this in off-season.
