Eli Manning

mdthedream : 11/11/2019 8:21 am
do you think the Giants should or will let Eli play the last game or two? I know he is not the future and I agree Jones is the man but it would be a nice send off for Eli.
If the Eagles need that game ? I wouldn't
TommytheElephant : 11/11/2019 8:22 am : link
Also - I don't know how nice it would be to send off our 2 time super bowl MVP by letting him get sacked for a minimum of 7 times
No
ron mexico : 11/11/2019 8:22 am : link
This isn’t baseball. He only plays if Jones gets hurt.
I don't..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/11/2019 8:23 am : link
think Eli would let the team do a ceremonial start for him.

I don't either. He strikes me as the type of guy that will walk away quietly.
Don't agree
mdthedream : 11/11/2019 8:24 am : link
I think they do and should. Jones has learned a lot and its no big deal to him and I would hope Eli would want to end his Giant career playing one more time.
I agree with you guys
ron mexico : 11/11/2019 8:25 am : link
He wouldn’t allow it.
The man
mdthedream : 11/11/2019 8:25 am : link
gets 20mill he is fine and should get out there if the Giants ask him to.
I think it will
mdthedream : 11/11/2019 8:26 am : link
be interesting to see.
No, it's Jones' team now.
Section331 : 11/11/2019 8:28 am : link
He needs the reps. Starting an aging QB just to put asses in the seats is a thing desperate franchises do.
Don't see it
FanMan : 11/11/2019 8:32 am : link
happening. I would imagine that part of the decision for Mara to sign off on benching Eli when they did was to protect his legacy and HOF chances. One more loss as a starter and he is below .500. Certainly not the primary reason, but I find it believable it was part of it at least for Mara. Having him in the HOF is a feather in the organization's cap. Its possible that he may play in a game one more time, but maybe not as a starter.
Eli is...
bw in dc : 11/11/2019 8:36 am : link
116-116.

They aren’t going to risk bringing that record below 500.

Sure if you are a masochist

Yeah, let’s send him out there in the last game for a 3-4 win team with a lame duck head coach, an empty stadium only populated by eagles fans and a fan base at home looking for a loss for draft positioning.

I’m sure that will create lasting memories that will be the perfect feather in the cap of his career
Letting Eli play a complimentary "send-off" game
Jimmy Googs : 11/11/2019 8:38 am : link
would be yet another example of what not to do for this franchise...
If they don't start protecting Jones
arniefez : 11/11/2019 8:41 am : link
We'll see Eli before the year is over. I really hope he can make it through the next 6 games without an injury that will affect next year.
I know its Jones team
mdthedream : 11/11/2019 8:43 am : link
he is going to get a lot more reps and I think its a nice send off. Guys crack me up Eli was the starter and some cried he should not have been taken out and know he would get killed. Its one last game I think he would be fine.
OK
mdthedream : 11/11/2019 8:44 am : link
the record thing makes more sense so let Jones start than bring him in.
This is valuable learning time for Jones
penkap75 : 11/11/2019 8:46 am : link
and also for everyone else to evaluate him to see if he truly is the future.

Eli checking down and going 3 n out (its apparent why he does that now), serves zero purpose at all.
DJ is probably going to have some personal records on the line,
Zeke's Alibi : 11/11/2019 8:49 am : link
not that they matter, but at least its something to take away from this shit season.
No and the only way
Giant John : 11/11/2019 8:55 am : link
Eli will step on the field is if DJ is injured.

IMO Eli would refuse. He knows how valuable that rookie year was to him.
Not only is Eli not that kind of guy..
BillKo : 11/11/2019 9:07 am : link
...but he won't have played for nearly 15 weeks, would be naturally rusty, in the cold, against a team trying to kill him, and with a team that blows.

Who would sign up for that?

But, even if were the exact opposite, Eli has way too much class to put himself ahead of DJ who is the future.

Actually....a great idea. Then have the entire team run out to greet him as he returns to the sideline.

No
Coach Red Beaulieu : 11/11/2019 9:14 am : link
He lacks mobility, so will have a lot of turnovers, losses and sacks and completeky adversely affect the run game, which I learned from bbi.
I don't think Eli should or would start another game
Dinger : 11/11/2019 9:15 am : link
unless DJ gets hurt. I hope Eli feels a little vindication in the putrid performance this team is putting up. All the arrows and slings and it wasn't him. Again.
"Put any mobile QB in and we will win" says half of BBI.
one thing to take away from
jestersdead : 11/11/2019 9:24 am : link
this thread and BBI, Eli is still the problem. Jones has started 6 games and is 2-4. Stop blaming lack of mobility or check downs on the problem. There much bigger issues than Eli Manning getting a half of football in a meaningless game.

The head coach needs to start utilizing "his" quarterback and showing that he, the head coach is capable of winning football games. Im tired of Shurmur and his BS excuses. You've got the mobile QB, what should be a top 5 RB and yet we see the same offensive results
I’d rather the Giants
BBelle21 : 11/11/2019 9:26 am : link
put Eli in as head coach for the last few games. They might win.

I thought they should have done this before the Redskins game, the first home game after his benching. Who knows, maybe it was offered and Eli nixed it?
I don't think it would be a nice send-off.
an_idol_mind : 11/11/2019 9:26 am : link
I'd prefer not to add more memories of Eli getting pasted behind a terrible line.
think the players
mdc1 : 11/11/2019 9:46 am : link
are checking out now. we are likely to no win any more games this season unless some other team gifts it to us.

Lol. You’re right. I actually think Eli would find better ways to protect Daniel than Shurmur. Which is pretty sad. Heck, bring in Peyton too.
Final Game

I think he told them that if they replaced him with the kid, he wasn't playing unless the kid was crippled during a game and then he would finish that game. Otherwise, he wasn't playing. You guys don't really believe all that malarky about Taney being kept around to tutor Jones do you?
