do you think the Giants should or will let Eli play the last game or two? I know he is not the future and I agree Jones is the man but it would be a nice send off for Eli.
I think they do and should. Jones has learned a lot and its no big deal to him and I would hope Eli would want to end his Giant career playing one more time.
happening. I would imagine that part of the decision for Mara to sign off on benching Eli when they did was to protect his legacy and HOF chances. One more loss as a starter and he is below .500. Certainly not the primary reason, but I find it believable it was part of it at least for Mara. Having him in the HOF is a feather in the organization's cap. Its possible that he may play in a game one more time, but maybe not as a starter.
Yeah, let’s send him out there in the last game for a 3-4 win team with a lame duck head coach, an empty stadium only populated by eagles fans and a fan base at home looking for a loss for draft positioning.
I’m sure that will create lasting memories that will be the perfect feather in the cap of his career
Letting Eli play a complimentary "send-off" game Â
he is going to get a lot more reps and I think its a nice send off. Guys crack me up Eli was the starter and some cried he should not have been taken out and know he would get killed. Its one last game I think he would be fine.
unless DJ gets hurt. I hope Eli feels a little vindication in the putrid performance this team is putting up. All the arrows and slings and it wasn't him. Again.
"Put any mobile QB in and we will win" says half of BBI.
this thread and BBI, Eli is still the problem. Jones has started 6 games and is 2-4. Stop blaming lack of mobility or check downs on the problem. There much bigger issues than Eli Manning getting a half of football in a meaningless game.
The head coach needs to start utilizing "his" quarterback and showing that he, the head coach is capable of winning football games. Im tired of Shurmur and his BS excuses. You've got the mobile QB, what should be a top 5 RB and yet we see the same offensive results
I thought they should have done this before the Redskins game, the first home game after his benching. Who knows, maybe it was offered and Eli nixed it?
I think he told them that if they replaced him with the kid, he wasn't playing unless the kid was crippled during a game and then he would finish that game. Otherwise, he wasn't playing. You guys don't really believe all that malarky about Taney being kept around to tutor Jones do you?
I don't either. He strikes me as the type of guy that will walk away quietly.
They aren’t going to risk bringing that record below 500.
Sure if you are a masochist

Eli checking down and going 3 n out (its apparent why he does that now), serves zero purpose at all.
Who would sign up for that?
But, even if were the exact opposite, Eli has way too much class to put himself ahead of DJ who is the future.
Actually....a great idea. Then have the entire team run out to greet him as he returns to the sideline.

don't say stuff like that and give Mara ideas

Lol. You’re right. I actually think Eli would find better ways to protect Daniel than Shurmur. Which is pretty sad. Heck, bring in Peyton too.
