As far as whether Shurmur would agree to let Bettcher go in order to keep his job... of course he would.

We allowed the Jets offense to score 27 points. The offense has been averaging 9 points per game.

So are we a player or 2 away from having a good defense? Is it the scheme? Is it positional coaching?

We have a young defense. Sometimes you take the good with the bad with rookies. Baker has made a few mistakes. Ballantine is getting more time. Lawrence and Ximines seems to be growing up while getting a large amount of PT.

Bettcher is working with what he has, the killer for him is we have many former players of his from AZ and it doesn’t seem to be helping.

But this defense is young! Lawrence, Hill, Tomlinson, Carter, Ximines, Baker, Ballantine, Beal, Connolly, Love, Haley. I don’t know how good this group can be but these guys are just beginning. No one was going to turn this group into a solid D even with some decent vets like Jenkins, Peppers and Golden.

does he stand up for Hunter the oline coach? He is the constant in a continuously underperforming group.

scheme is too complex for these players or the assistants are not doing their jobs. Are the assistant's Bettcher's guys are hand selected by Mara?

until a real adult stands up and says we are going to solve the problem through the draft and it is going to take several years to get back to normal. Replace the roof instead of patching it with high priced FA's.

he has to change his assistants, that Shurmur would go down with the ship. Maybe he'd put up an argument, but if it's replace them or get fired with them, he accepts the replacements. He doesn't have the juice to win a fight over his assistants, nor does he have the kind of career where he walks away from a job over that kind of thing.

We were getting a shit ton of pressure on Darnold. Right now Bethea, the lack of a good coverage LB and the young CBs are killing this defense.
