It is a lot to give up....but you get a true architect and more importantly...you probably get his son (assistant in NE) which would provide some succession.

Mara was scared shitless about fan reaction during the Giants' final home games. So he canned Mac...hired Spags and Eli was reinstated. Catastrophy averted.
But this year the fans are not revolting. (Insert your own joke here.) That's why retaining or firing coaches will be an end-of-season decision, like it almost always is.
