PFF Grades

Giants Defense was pretty off the charts on D

Tomlinson 90.4
Williams 90
Mayo 88.8
Peppers 82.6
Lawrence 79.2
Jenkins 75
Bethea 69.7

Deandre Baker was a 29 though. He might be the worst corner in football at the moment.

On Offense

Pulley, Barkley, Eric Smith, and Will Hernandez had real stinkers. All below 55

Gates, Zeitler and Clayton did well
I take PFF with a grain of salt

but it kind of speaks volumes to how bad our coaches/schemes actually suck. We have talented players, we just can't play. That's all on the coaching.

We have some talented players, but our LBs are awful, particularly in coverage and our CB depth is nonexistent. Plus, Bethea sucks. So the middle of the field is always wide open and/or Baker is getting torched.
'Baker...He might be the worst corner in football at the moment.'

So dumb. He failed to get his head around on a critical PI call. Barring that play he was pretty good in the game.
Tomlinson...

Not sure where you all stand but I think he's a pretty good player.
Is Clayton
pjcas18 : 11/11/2019 3:00 pm : link
Slayton on auto-correct?

with all the shuffling, I'm just not sure if there was a Clayton out there.
Clayton = Slayton
CMicks3110 : 11/11/2019 3:08 pm : link
yes, sorry.

And I'm sorry, Baker has been dreadful.
'Baker has been dreadful.'
Torrag : 11/11/2019 3:10 pm : link
If you haven't seen improvement and progression you aren't watching closely enough or are letting early struggles bias you now. He's a rookie and plays like one at times. He's getting better.
Hernandez
TyreeHelmet : 11/11/2019 3:20 pm : link
No one seems to be talking about it but this guy has not played well. For when he was picked, he's not performing.
I think Baker is improving every game, and is getting pretty good
PatersonPlank : 11/11/2019 3:22 pm : link
The DL played well. I think Williams, Tomlinson, Lawrence, and Hill will be a force moving forward.

The thing with Hernandez is that OL is a team sport. Its hard to look good when you have the guys on either side of you are playing their first games (basically). I still like our Guards and think they are a strength
.
GiantEgo : 11/11/2019 3:28 pm : link
Tomlinson probably had his best game yesterday.Williams is already the best player on defense.
i think pff is largely bs
Banks : 11/11/2019 3:52 pm : link
but i thought tomlinson was monster out there yesterday
4 good defensive tackles... 1 decent edge rusher

Who's fucking idea was this....?

“We have talented players”
KWALL2 : 11/11/2019 4:10 pm : link
Ok but we don’t have enough of them. Not close.

Giants had very few above average players on that field yesterday. It’s not the coaching. This team has a massive talent shortage at several critical positions/roles.

Dude, seriously, what are you watching? Did DB make a single play yesterday? He jogs in pursuit. Guy is awful. And yes it is hard being a rookie CB and hopefully he gets better. But he has a completion rate of over 70% against. He has not played well at all. It’s not even debatable
I actually saw Baker on one play where
Bill in UT : 11/11/2019 5:10 pm : link
we lined up only about 3 yards off the receiver
Completion
XBRONX : 11/11/2019 5:12 pm : link
rate tells nothing. If you have your receiver covered 18 out of 20 times and QB throws you way the two times and completes those passes, you gave up 100% completion rate.

C'mon.. are you actually trying to say that Baker is so good that QBs are throwing to the other side and 18 out of 20 times they are staying away from Baker's side? Good try and your comment may be true but none of that logic used applies to Baker.. His numbers look bad because his performance is bad..
Just saying it can
XBRONX : 11/11/2019 5:33 pm : link
be way misleading stat.

Yes. That is theoretically possible in one game. But over the course of a season it is a fairly reliable indicator of cornerback play
I have no problem with people who say
Vanzetti : 11/11/2019 5:46 pm : link
Baker flashes potential or give him another year and he might grow into the job.

But to claim he has played well this year is absurd.
