He's obviously a very good player but he needed an organization committed to building an offense around him. Do you guys really think we would have done that properly here?
He's in the perfect situation. They have a great offensive line and an excellent defense. They also loaded up on TE's and WR's over the past two drafts.
I hope the Giants follow the Ravens blue print. Use a top 10 pick on a LT, Andrew Thomas, and build up the line first.

McSorley is an excellent backup for that system, should be able to find a ton of cheap players like that. It's how I built my Madden team.

I've got a 2000 word thread starter making the case for Greg Roman to be the next head coach bouncing around my head, but I'm going to wait until the end of the season when the Ravens are in the AFC title game in New England.
The Ravens have won that bet. Jackson's commitment to becoming an elite passer and his success at that are the thing nobody could forecast for sure. His progress in a year is pretty amazing.

Someone will run screaming to counter this in a scramble to take credit away from him, so i'll do it first. He's not an elite passer, but he's improved a good deal and IMO hasn't yet scratched the surface.

I, like many on bbi, like mobile QBs because they're fun!
It's also too hard going through 5 progressions in Madden. And the NFL. Good luck finding and paying that guy. Much easier to read one side of the field and run.
from #2 to #25 or so to take Jackson would've given the team a lot of additional assets that could've improved the squad, as would have cutting (or trading) Eli right away and adding more cap room.

So was Carson Wentz when he was running and passing on alternate plays. Not so much now though. Hey, maybe Jackson is the next Russell Wilson instead of the next Carson Wentz.

down to Harbaugh. That's what a great coach can do. Build a program and scheme AROUND your best players. Obviously that team is well built from the inside out as well.

but the difference between Barkley and Lamar has a lot more to do with Jim Harbaugh.. Lamar would've sucked ass here.. between our coaches and management we would've found a way to ruin this pick.
Used to love Michael Vick because he was fun to watch but ultimately his trophy drawer hardly overfloweth.

I do not think you understand my point. This organization is not going to run current offenses. For heavens sake we just hired a relic as HC and gave him a 5 year contract...

than most thought he would be able to do. It will be interesting to see how teams react next season. Look at how the Rams are currently struggling in year 3 than in the previous 2 years
after belichick. the giants look to have one of the worst coaching staffs in all of football. i suspect jackson would look much different here than he has in baltimore.

More quarterbacks are ruined by terrible management than developed into productive players.
Poor management teams want a QB in the draft to save them from their ineptitude. It doesn't work that way.
The story on how Harbaugh did his homework and research pre-draft about his own philosophy and was able to not only buy-in on Jackson himself, but get the entire organization on board to reconfigure everything they thought about offense is great. He wasn't married to one way of playing offense. He was not going to pigeonhole or seek a prototype ("he looks like a professional quarterback" - what does that even mean?), but get a player who had a lot of talent, figure out what can best maximize his talent and seek where it goes.
That...is coaching. But the way the Giants do coaching searching, a person like him probably would not have gotten consideration.
the humility to not be a slave to one scheme, and the courage to make decisions that can be criticized.

And had he been there for us in round two, I do think we would have drafted him. This was the best of both worlds....getting Saquon and a qb who many considered just as good as Darnold, Allen, Rosen, and Mayfield.

Benefit of gimmicky offense is while that's working it buys you a few years grace time to draft heavy on defense
