Eli's career W/L record is below .500 for his career and the Giants don't want that. It's bad enough he's going to be retiring with a career .500 record. Don't do him the disservice of having to retire with a sub .500 record and going out on yet another loss to Philly, as they've dominated us enough the past several years.
Possibly if the last game is out of hand you let him come in for the last series as kind of a farewell to the fans.
Though he probably would decline that as well. Realistically unless Jones gets hurt we likely have seen the last of Eli behind center in a Giants uniform.
Why would they want to risk him getting hurt behind this Oline Â
If he ended up losing the game he would have a sub .500 record with the Giants. Pretty sure the brass don’t want that to happen. Optics for helping get another Giant into the HOF.
Any more than Coughlin did. I think he would welcome the opportunity to get on the field and show what he can do. So, if it is a real opportunity, I think he takes it. But if it is a symbolic gesture, I agree he declines
Also, why would Eli do that? He has already demonstrated his unwillingness to participate in a charade (streak/benching).

He is way too valuable in the room to risk him on the field
LT and Banks get the nod at LB too

I've seen our LB play, the LT / Banks thing might not be the worst thing in the world.... (Obvious sarcasm)

I'm on board with it. Sad that it's not THAT sarcastic. LOL
