Starting with the Lines vs Playmakers

thomasa510 : 11/11/2019 10:31 pm
Before Gettleman, the Giants were drafting playmakers on the offense and plugging gaps in the lines. Now the team has more invested in the o line but is lacking in playmakers at the wr position, though gettleman did draft SB. Obviously the o line is far from a finished unit and still struggles lightly.

Do y’all think it is better to build from the inside out or choose a more high flying approach to an offense? What about on defense; a solid run stuffing defense that controls the tempo or one that that thrives off of pressure and takeaways?

There are limited resources in football. How would you build a team? Does the presence of a few pieces like Daniel Jones change the route you take? Do you focus on offense or defense?

For me, with the offense as it is, I try to beef up o-line and add a playmaker wr to keep defenses honest and try for a dominant unit, and then plug in pieces to make a slow improvement to the defense.

Without good pass rushers, the defense will always stagnate and become one dimensional, but think we need so much work on defense and that 3-4 pieces on offense and some experience can transform our offense into a solid to great unit. What do you all think?
On offense, if we have a healthy

DJ, Saquon, Tate, Shep, Slayton, and Engram -- used properly -- we've got all the weapons we need. Unfortunately, they're not healthy and they're not being used very well. A big reason for this is the O-line play, so let's start there.

On defense, our line is respectable, but that's about it. The next 4 in the 3-4, and the final 4, can be picked apart by any respectable high school coach.

Peppers and Jenkins are fine.

Connelly is a good player too. You add an edge and an ILB and resign Williams and golden and this defense will be much better
Look back. Either Aaron Donnel

Sometimes perception is greater than reality

In 2013 Pugh was taken 19th, Hankins 49, In 2014 Richburg 43, in 2015 Flowers 9, in 2017, Tomlinson 55.
Gettleman has 2 top 60 picks on the line, 2018 Hernandez at 34 and 2019 Lawrence at 17. He aslo used the 2nd overall pick on a skill player, and the 6th overall pick on a skill player, and the 29th pick on a CB. Not really a whole lot different in terms of placing a premium on the Lines if you ask me.

Yeah - valid point. Resources were spent, but squandered
