I know some here are upset with our ROOKIE behind a putrid line with no running game, mediocre wide outs and MIA tight end....who fumbles every game.......but look around the league.
Just last night I saw Jimmy G fumble twice and Wilson fumbled once, both guys losing the ball resulting in a TD for the other team. Ray Goff had 3 fumbles Sunday as well. I could go on, but I think you get my point. It seems to me more defensive players are now looking to strip the qb instead of just sack him, so,I think this is one reason we are seeing more qb fumbles.
Anyhow, of course we all want to see Dimes hang on to the ball when he is about to get smeared, but as you saw Monday Night, even the best can’t always do that. Let’s be patient with our rookie who is excelling in a lot of other things. Oh, and let’s pray for 2-3 better OL guys, a healthy Saquon, a TE who can stay on the field, and one more stud WR to compliment Slayton for next year too.

...or he will become a journeyman QB, and that assumes he is still in the NFL.
I think if you go for the football as a defender you may actually decrease the chance of getting a roughing the passer call.
QBs and Daniel Jones will have to continue to adjust.
Your words: "He isn't sensing/feeling the pressure."
My words: This is what scares the hell out of me about our rookie QB. IMO, QBs either have the ability to sense pressure or they don't; you can't really teach it. At best, the only thing you can do is insist the QB releases the ball no later than at a certain count. But then it becomes a mechanical rule which can mess up everything else up.
My question: When Daniel Jones is laser focused downfield, does he have the ability to see/process things at the very corner edge of his eyes? If not, he can't "sense" the pressure.

Oh brother.

But most of Jones' fumbles are preventable. He isn't sensing/feeling the pressure. Sometimes he only has one hand on the ball. But of course the pressure getting there constantly allows the ball to be swatted from his hand. He has to do better.

How do you know it can't be taught? I think that his laser focus is the problem and experience will allow the game to slow down and his "senses" will then be able to feel the pressure.
FWIW, a friend of mine was a guard in college and he said from freshman year to sophomore year the game slowed down so much that he could see the play unfold and as he'd pull on a trap he could see everyone and the LB he was to hit as if in slow motion. So I expect the same thing will happen with Jones.

Wasn't that a movie? "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" starring George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson?
Why does DJ get killed for his fumbles
Big Rick in FL : 8:58 am : link : reply
But nobody mentions Lamars fumbles as a rookie? He had 371 dropbacks/carries last year and fumbled 15 times. A fumble every 24.7 touches. DJ has 361 dropbacks/carries this year and 13 fumbles. A fumble every 27.7 touches.
So you see all you guys discouraged with Dimes’ fumbles....Lamar did it bigtime as well in his rookie year. And I know for a fact, Josh Allen did it and is still doing it, as well.
Be patient grasshoppers and maybe lower your expectations....strips Instead of sacks are now becoming more prevalent in today’s nfl.

Funny. I was just listening to I am a man of constant sorrow. Great Song.

Curious how you figured the "pace"? He has 13 fumbles on the year. You are figuring he will only fumble 6 more times over the remaining games?

Which is still under the all time leader for the Giants, and the NFL for that matter....

He averages about one per game.
13 fumbles in 11 games (he didn’t fumble the first two games, haha)

Yes, he did. He fumbled in the Cowboys game. Also, he hasn't played in 11 games. He has only played 9 games. He had no snaps in week 2 and a bye certainly should not be calculated in an average. Figuring a pace isn't exactly an average. A pace would indicate a current tendency. Over the past 4 games, he averages 2.5 fumbles per game. Over 9 games, he averages 1.44. I would look at his stats and draw the conclusion that he is increasing the tendency to fumble.
Daniel Jones Stats - ( New Window )
he's getting, hit, chopped and pulled at while looking downfield. And let's see he's played 7 games.
If he was a running back it would be a different story
Josh Allen -- 11
Gardner Minshew -- 11
Jameis Winston -- 10
Jared Goff -- 9
On a fumble per game basis, the rooks lead the way.

How many of those fumbles has he lost (not recovered by Giants)?

9
Here are the All Time leaders and their average number of fumbles PER YEAR: (Note: I rounded off the numbers.)
1. Farve 166 fumbles...8 per year
2. Moon 161 fumbles... 9.5 per year
3. Krieg 153 fumbles...8 per year
4. Collins 139 fumbles...8 per year
5. Elway 137 fumbles... 8.5 per year
6. Eli 124 fumbles...8 per year
Currently Jones is on pace for 22.75 fumbles this year.
It needs to be "fixed" or at least reduced to near single digits.

That has everything to do with luck and nothing to do with Jones's propensity to fumble.

Agreed. Interestingly, Lamar Jackson led NFL QBs last year with 15. This year YTD he has 4. He's cleaned it up, for sure.
