Michigan's OT Jon Runyan Jr.

Anakim : 11/12/2019 3:55 pm
Anyone have any input on how good he is? He's going to be in the 2020 Draft. When I do watch Michigan's offense I focus on their impressive WR corp of Peoples-Jones, Black and Nico Collins.

Needless to say, we're pretty familiar with his old man. He was a hell of a lineman with the Eagles and gave Strahan fits many games. How weird would it be if we drafted his kid to be our savior at OT? Haha
I have no idea if he is good

but make sure we evaluate him on his skill set not that of his father or his name sake.

The son is not always equal to or greater than the father.
He gave Strahan fits?

I don't think I'd say that. Strahan had the better of that matchup over the years, IMO.
supposed to be a rich draft of tackles...

..so it makes sense.

I would say Stray got the better of Runyan early on and Runyan got the better of Strahan in the latter years.
It wasn't until the last few years of the rivalry

that Runyan got the better of Strahan.
As a Michigan fan, I think he's a solid player.

He's a two year starter, who started out this year injured, missing the first two games, and I'm guessing he's been playing injured ever since. He won't show out at the combines, but he's a gamer, solid with his technique, but like most OT's in general, will struggle with speed rushers.
15 times they faced off

14.5 sacks for Strahan. That's pretty convincing.

i've read he's projected as a guard in nfl
I think Stray got the best of it

But it was a very tough matchup.
I love it when Anak talks like a scout

Yeah wut? Strahan owned Runyan from what I remember (admittedly I was pretty young for most of that era but still)
The only way Runyon

Could control Strahan was to hold him and he got away with it half the time !
