Is really enough, to have shurmur shown the door. Mr. Mara....he took your first round draft pick qb, and let a replacement left tackle, the protector of your valuable first round qb’s blind side.... Eric Smith try his luck in an nfl regular season game, having NEVER played or practiced the LT position. More seriously unprofessional than the two valet drivers in Ferris bueller, abusing that Ferrari. That, is coaching malpractice that can lead to serious, career ending injury. Just lucky jones is so durable, most likely the rest of his 2019 starts will be move violent than him being a crash test dummy.
How does that fall on Shurmur? Isn't roster management Gettleman's department?
How about shoving off Brett Jones for Halapio and Pulley? Jones wasn't a world beater, but he's better than those two by a significant margin.

But the kid could play both T spots at at least a backup level. . Good thing they kept Tanny instead. This among other super clueless moves by Shurmur shows he’s just lost

The final cuts portion of the roster is a joint effort by coaching staff and the GM, so when Wheeler was IR'd then let go it was more than likely at the direction of the coaching staff telling Gettleman they had no plan for him.
My guess would be when Jones was traded the coaching staff probably also gave feedback he'd be the odd man out. It was a stupid trade in retrospect, but coaching staff deserves some of the blame.
Clemson fires coach mid season. Made Dabo the interim. Rest is history.

It's nice to know I'm not alone.
The team was excited for Lauletta in the preseason and his superior performance, a smart coach would have leveraged that somehow.
Aah, the highpoint of the season, August. That's actually an improvement when we usually stunk in August too.
Agreed. Why is there no link and why is no one else asking for the link?
those were experienced drivers, and the car had zero damage
When did Smith pass Slade?
Yeah, we have no idea if Slade would have done any better, but Smith barely knew what to do over there....3 sacks allowed in one game?

This is what I want to know. Slade played left tackle frequently in training camp and the preseason. He should have been active over Eric Smith.
It still blows my mind that Eric Smith played LT last week. Why on earth didn't Shurmur at least move Gates to LT and insert Smith at RT where he has spent all his time as a professional?
I am sure there is a backstory with tons of Shurmur excuses and theEric Smith comment was taken out of context..blah blah blah
But geez...stick a TE next to the guy and give him help every play would you!
Thats why him trying to be an OC and doing a bad job at it hurts his chances to even think about coaching here
Wouldn't you ask Shurmur, "what as that plan?" eh?
