‘We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.’

It took me three hours to figure out that ‘F.U.’ was Felix Ungar.

in the original Broadway play. Then Jack Lemmon/Matthau in the movie and then, for me at least the best pairing, Randall and Klugman in the TV show.

And some quick trivia. Felix's wife's name was Frances in the movie and Gloria (a pretty, ahem, healthy Gloria) in on the show. And Monica Evans and Carole Shelley were the Pigeon Sisters on Broadway, the movie and the show.

That was a joke he "borrowed" from his brother. Actually the whole story was borrowed from his brother's life. Interestingly enough, both Neil Simon and Woody Allen claim Simon's older brother, Danny, as their #1 mentor.

It says a lot that the play, movie and TV show were all big hits.

it was on like 5 times a day in the late 70's on channel 11.

They used to use the same character actors for different roles. When you watched the repeats the guy would be a minister one show and half an hour later he'd be an insurance salesman.
