is the lack of progress/development taking place amongst our young players.
-Saquon's play has regressed, especially his pass protection.
-Daniel Jones continues to struggle with ball security.
-Deandre Baker continues to look lost in the secondary.
-Lorenzo Carter looks like the same player as last season, no jump in his level of play at all, as most of us expected out of him this year.
-B.J. Hill went from arguably being our best D-linemen last season to being completely invisible this year.
-Will Hernandez continues to be up and down, as has Jon Halapio.
These are players that are considered to be the foundation for the future of this team, yet I haven't seen much progress any of their games as the weeks go on. And I blame most of that on the coaching. It's a coaches job to develop talent, which these players have. I fear if Shurmur and Co. get another year it will only further hinder the development of our young players, and set this team back even further.
In short, Daniel Jones is one of the few players I think is being coached well, which is technically good, but you hope it isn't enough to keep Shurmur's job safe.

Blows my mind that people think something like that can be fixed in a season. QB is by far the hardest position in sport to play and right now he has 101 things on his plate. As soon as he gains some mastery of pre snap adjustments, post snap reads, things will slow down for him a bit in pocket. I really don't think people appreciate how fast it happens when you are actually back there, looks like slow motion watching from your couch.
Next year this time when the season is over again before November, ownership wil cut Shurmur loose. Although even at that point he still just might need more time. Guy might need four five years to Field a seven win team.
If the Mara's bring back Shurmur after a probably 3-13 this year and with a 18-48 career record all you can do is laugh.
-Daniel - many great rooks struggled with ball security
-Deandre - could be dumb as rocks
-Lorenzo Carter - could be a JAG
-B.J. Hill - could be a JAG
-Will Hernandez - possibly overdrafted - Braden Smith been better
Will Hernandez should be taking a huge step forward this season but instead he hasn't improved at all. None of the other offensive linemen have improved under Hunter. He was a underwhelming hire to begin with and he has been as bad as most of us feared.
really? - why not WRs? why not LBs? QB anyone????
seems like a random take - i haven't heard that before

are the two positions most reliant on coaching. Look at our o-line and secondary and draw your own conclusions.

Because these positions are scheme dependent. For offensive line, it's not just block the guy directly in front of you, it's about developing blocking schemes and having the line play as a coordinated unit. For the secondary, the most effective secondaries mix up and disguise coverage well.
I should have mentioned, QB is the most coaching dependent position since it is also scheme dependent and player development matters a ton.
One way to think about this is look at the teams that are consistently good. They consistently have really strong offensive line and secondary play. Their play at positions like RB, WR, and LB tend to be more dependent on talent levels and vary from year to year.

People complained about Shurmur's weak resume as a head coach, but look at Hunter's as an Oline coach, way worse. Not only am I confused why this guy is still here, I'm confused how he got here in the first place.

Completely agreed.
Unfortunately, Shurmur was put in charge of bringing in his own staff. The difficulty for Shurmur is that he mainly coached at bad organizations and he likely doesn't know many good coaches. Therefore, he brought in Hunter.

If that is the case, then replace DG.
