Stephen A & Kellerman on Barkley

GloryDayz : 11/13/2019 2:05 pm
Yes, I know, not very popular but a good discussion on Barkley & Giants.

Worth watching... cant disagree
Who has more to lose, Giants or Barkley? - ( New Window )
You have a player who will never take himself out of a game

You have a coach who is trying desperately to save his job. And finally you have an owner who is still publicly clinging to the idea that this team is heading in the right direction despite all objective measurements to the contrary.

It's a perfect storm of things that will put Barkley back on the field when he shouldn't be there.
Back seat MD's everywhere

refuse to acknowledge that maybe, perhaps, wonderboy's ankle is actually healed and he is not injured. Guess nobody wants to think about that.

Football is a collision sport. All NFL players are somewhat banged up. If he is playing hurt despite doctors warnings it is admirable but he needs to sit because he is playing TERRIBLY.

The problem isn't his ankle
BillT : 11/13/2019 3:49 pm : link
At least not the #1 problem.

The #1 problem is his OL. 11 of 13 runs hit behind the LOS last week. (As if we haven't been watching this same thing for years now.)

Yes, I'm sure he forgot how to play.

I know how snarky condescension can make one feel good, but Barkley is obviously hurt, it's plain as day.

Also the OL is getting no push.
Interesting, even though the lions usually sucked....

Barry sanders found some running opportunities that placed him in some space he could operate in.....this giants blocking and play calling is so completely horrendous that superstar Barkley is getting slammed to the ground at the same time he is getting the ball. The head coach, must take his 17 and 44 skills to another franchise, asap.
Bart Scott called him soft

Pointed out how Daquon just went down without trying to break tackles

I think SB might be trying too hard to show everybody he is indestructible but it having the opposite effect

He should really sit out the rest of the season

I think it's a perfect storm for Barkley

I don't think he's 100% healthy, but the combination of being dinged up and some of the flaws in his game (the tendency to dance a bit too much and not being solid in pass pro) have been magnified by his injury.

That takes him from his usual above/well above average RB self down to an average RB, which in this shit offense just isn't going to get anything done.

I'll take this answer for 1000 alex
Just because he is playing hurt...
Milton : 11/15/2019 12:15 am : link
...does that mean that he is necessarily at any greater risk of injury than if he were 100%. If the doctors give him the green light and his contribution gives the Giants a better chance to win, then he should be on the field whether the team is 2-8 or 8-2.

Of course he has a greater chance of injury if he’s playing hurt. And let’s not act like NFL doctors don’t get it wrong all the time. If he’s injured, he shouldn’t be playing, I don’t care what our record is.

needs to protect himself from these fools in the organization. It is clear if they do not 1) fix oline 2) fire staff , he needs to think about whether he wants to be a Giant and whether he cares about playing in a losing football culture. Recall Beckham talked his way out of here. Would be pretty hard for the org to scapegoat Barkley as he has more character and garnered more respect.
