Jordan Ranaan said the lockroom was demorlized when Eli was

broadbandz : 11/13/2019 5:32 pm
brought back. Newest breaking big blue podcast, Jordan said guys were demoralized in the locker room when they found out Eli was coming back this year.

Who was it? Had to be offensive line or the WR group. Or maybe Engram.

The locker room should be demoralized
widmerseyebrow : 11/13/2019 5:39 pm : link
for being humongous fucking losers with or without Eli.
Does it matter?
GiantGolfer : 11/13/2019 5:39 pm : link
This team is filled with a bunch of losers.
Does Shurmur...
bw in dc : 11/13/2019 5:39 pm : link
count as the locker room? ;)
What a mentally weak team

Why is this even an issue to be discussed?

So the locker room got they want now? Not demorilized, but still sucking balls?

I'm not even sure of the point.

agreed. cry about it in preseason and weeks 1 and 2. its week 8 with Jones and we still suck.
i bet no one even said that
Platos : 11/13/2019 5:44 pm : link
or if someone did it was 1 guy and he was probably misquoted.
This is absurd
5BowlsSoon : 11/13/2019 5:44 pm : link
I don’t believe this one bit.

zxasqw12 : 11/13/2019 5:46 pm : link
That's regrettable. Equally regrettable is the fact that the same locker room has not been "re-moralized" since he was sent to the bench
And he's been sitting on this nugget of information for

Great point

I haven’t listened so I can’t say when in the podcast he says this if at all.
Link - ( New Window )
He also said Bettcher has been drawing the ire of the front office
FranknWeezer : 11/13/2019 5:49 pm : link
for awhile now, and that it's quite possible (I'm paraphrasing) he's not back in 2020.
for fuck sake
Fort Mill Mike : 11/13/2019 5:54 pm : link
If that's true, outside of a smalll handful of guys (Jones, Barkley, Hernandez, Slayton, the better rookies on D like Lawrence and Maybe Golden), just clean house. Get them the fuck out and just rebuild a few bricks at a time. And that goes double for the loser ass coach.

To quote that great philosopher Homer, "Suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked."

3-year plans work.

That would confirm what Peppers dropped last week.
What did Peppers say?

I wouldn't doubt there were a few players.
Mr. Bungle : 11/13/2019 6:01 pm : link
But "the locker room" was demoralized? Give me a break.

And wasn't Eli brought back before DJ was drafted? Did they want to play with Lauletta or something?
i thought all the losers

we're cleaned out, and now it's just guys that reminded DG of all the super bowls he's been to. that's not what happened?

Did they feel better when Jones was picked?

Ranaan probably spoke to one guy who said that.

My first thought was Beckham

You have to wonder if the locker room

Journalism today, if it even still exists, requires bullshit like this to drive clicks/interest.
Not sure how true
jcn56 : 11/13/2019 6:44 pm : link
but aren't these guys all replacements for the maltcontents and bad locker room guys? You know, the Culture Club?

Devil's advocate - if you were on a team, and you thought
jcn56 : 11/13/2019 6:48 pm : link
the most important position on that team was staffed by a guy you believed didn't give you a good chance of winning, what would that do to your morale?

They all did seem somewhat energized when Jones took the field. Of course, that didn't last very long.

Hey, I liked Boy George, for some reason..
If The Story Offends You...
Jim in Tampa : 11/13/2019 7:02 pm : link
or you simply choose not to believe it, just attack the source. It's now the American way of life.

I recall a similar "he's full of shit" reaction to a Jordan Ranaan story in pre-season a few years ago, right after OBJ was hurt against Cleveland. Ranaan reported that OBJ would miss the opener and likely the first few games. And that's exactly what happened.
One major problem with this
Biteymax22 : 11/13/2019 7:04 pm : link
When they announced Eli was coming back, no one was in this locker room because it was the offseason. Also, about half the guys on this team, weren’t on the team at that point.
I don’t buy that for a second
djm : 11/13/2019 7:04 pm : link
...nor do I really give a fuck.

Locker room harmony is without question the most over stated over analyzed and ridiculous talking point in sports today. And it means absolutely nothing. Want proof? Go find it yourself I’m too tired to conjure up the dozens of examples.
This podcast was mostly about Shurmur & Gettleman’s fate
Sean : 11/13/2019 7:07 pm : link
Both will campaign hard about Jones needing to stay in the same system/structure.

The campaign has already started if you read today’s quotes.

Nope.

2018 points per game = 23.1
2019 points per game = 20.1

Eli was a problem don’t get me wrong, and jones needed to start ASAP, but no. Just no.

I think if you consider their best offensive player missed games and has been playing hurt, that's a wash.
Listening to the end of the podcast,
Diver_Down : 11/13/2019 7:17 pm : link
Jordan brought up an interesting observation in an answer to what Shula's job is. Jordan said that his primary role is to develop the passing game plan. The other tidbit is that Shula isn't involved in the run game plan. He believes that Hal Hunter is developing the run game plan. The whole dynamic just underscores the dysfunction of this coaching staff.
I Don't Know If This Is True or Not
Bernie : 11/13/2019 7:19 pm : link
but the very thought of this being the case caused Jordan to become highly aroused.
It’s Eli who should’ve been demoralized

Yeah, a little friction can be a good thing.
I'm not sure what's funnier
widmerseyebrow : 11/13/2019 7:59 pm : link
The idea that a group of losers is actually sad that Eli is playing football, or Jordan Ranaan claiming he knows the feelings of the entire locker room based on the gripes of probably two or three players.
