They are of the belief that if they game is played that Sunday night, the ratings would surpass anything they've already hit as many people have Monday off from work.
This would give them a huge negotiating point with the networks.
So, yes, 2 regular season bye weeks, additional round of playoffs/teams, international games, neutral site games, it's all on the table.
A positive about expanding the playoffs to 14 teams is it will eliminate the 2nd bye. I hate the 2nd bye. Give the top team a bye and have 3 wild card games per conference. Top seed that advances in the wild card rd gets the other home game in the divisional round. I don’t mind it.

Yeah me neither

Would be awesome to have it pres day weekend, let’s be serious
Without knowing all sides of it, my first thought is..
2 preseason games
Up the amount of practice time allowed
17 games with
2 bye weeks spaced a min 4 weeks apart.
**a roster exemption for a player in concussion protocol
stick to 12 playoff teams
Move superbowl to Presidents Day weekend.
Maybe increase practice squad.
Maybe have a couple practice squad spots for Vets
One that i have always wanted but it will never happen, is a % (maybe 10%) discount on the cap hit of resigning a drafted player to a second contract. Player still gets the same amount, but it counts less against cap, which of course the team could leverage to pay the player more to get them to resign with them.
I don't understand why they just don't add the second bye week for an 18 week season. Set up bye weeks so teams playing Thursday or Mon always get the bye before or after. More rest throughout the season, better quality games.

I bet the NFLPA is fighting it. The players dont want want to cut into the offseason. At the very least they are using it as a bargaining chip IMO
How could they play a playoff game on a Monday Night? Â
That wouldn't be fair to whoever wins and then has to play again over the following weekend. You would have to put the winner on Sunday no matter what.

Has to be. 53 players is nuts. Should be 55-60.
Yeah me neither

7 playoff spots in the NFC and the Giants still likely won't be able to get in.
If they were smart, which the NLFPA has never been - they are THE worst union, they would bargain for fewer games than 16.
So this sets the table to eventually move to 18. Which the NFPLA is too stupid to see.
At this point, why not 20 games? Why not 30?
As a fan? More games to watch with more bad refereeing, bad tackling, bad overall football.
Sensational...

The NFL needs to be careful not to dilute their product too much
