Is the best player in baseball bar none just bothers me a bit that trout wins it while missing the last 3 weeks of the season and his team was 10 games under 500. Maybe reading to much into but what a crime to have a generational player like this and can't field a team around him.
there was a pretty strong contingent banging the drum for Bregman in recent weeks.
And in light of the recent revelations and what a cocky little douche he is, I think people are just taking a little victory-ish lap that he didn't get it.
I do agree that Trout deserves it. I've personally always found the "VALUABLE VERSUS BEST" arguments to be tiresome to no end. You'll never hear me complain about the best player winning it (though I understand the counter-points)
It's really ridiculous how good Trout is, and his MVP success bears that out. He's already 6th in career MVP shares, and for his age he really crushes it.
MVP shares through age 27
Trout - 5.91
Pujols - 4.07
Musial - 3.16
Mantle - 2.93
T Williams - 2.59
Bonds - 2.66
Mays - 2.44
Can't really compare to old time guys like Ruth because a) they didn't even have the award in his early years, and b) for a few years you weren't eligible to win more than once. Still though, Trout's dominance of the league is historic.
Best player of his generation and it isn't close. I think he's even a bit better than pre-roids Bonds. Probably the best player since prime Mays and Mantle.
To my recollection almost all of those 2nd place finishes should have been first place finishes. He's repeatedly been punished because his teammates typically sucked.
Most Valuable Player to his team.......the Yankees had little else save Gleyber Torres and Gardy during the year.
The Yankees won 103 games this season. There was a lot of production from a lot of contributors-- and many players who produced tremendously in big spots. Huge fan of what DJLM did this season, but it's inaccurate to act as if it were only a couple guys doing all the work.

Lol can agree with that. Fuck the astros
Not sure why it's funny.
