NFT: Advice for get well gift for ex-boss

A former supervisor with whom I had a great working relationship and friendship with is undergoing hip replacement surgery this week. I'd like to send him something to help lift his spirits. Any suggestions? Is something like Omaha steaks a safe bet?

Word it that hope you enjoy once you get back on your feet. Instant motivation that will last thru a long , difficult journey for him. I always felt for those facing these type of things, give them something nice with the rewards after the BS they have to go thru. Makes it that much better.

Seriously though, just get him something that may assist him in a hobby he likes that he may turn to during rehab. If he likes model trains, get him some sort of a train kit. If he likes to sew buy him some thread and other sewing utensils.

I know he probably doesn�t do either, but I am using those hobbies as examples.

I know it well. Having both my hips replaced a few years ago. I surprising gift I got and really appreciated was a Fitbit One spends so much time walking as part of rehab I was curious as to how many steps/miles I was putting in daily. Not only that but it motivated me to do more.

I know it's kind of a go-to recommendation,

but a really good bottle (especially bourbon) is appropriate for anything imo. Of course that is assuming your friend likes to have a drink now & then.
