NYS AA Quarter Final: New Rochelle vs Proctor Utica...

M.S. : 11/16/2019 8:59 pm
...Proctor dominated the game in Time of Possession and knocked on the New Rochelle goal line three times but came away with no points.

In the end, it was New Rochelle's Jesse Parson that made the difference. Last week he secured New Rochelle's 5th straight Section I Championship with 327 yards rushing and 5 TDs against Carmel.

This afternoon, Jesse Parson had TD runs of 25, 48 and 34 yards to lead the Huguenots to a 21-7 victory over Proctor-Utica.

Hats off to the Raiders from Thomas R. Proctor High School. They gave it their all and fought like crazy from beginning to end!

Next week New Rochelle faces the Shenendehowa Plainsmen (from Clifton Park, New York).

...for an amazing 71 out of 100 offensive plays in the game. They were also without their leading rusher, Tasean Cooper, and their best defender, Isiah Czarnecki, both of whom were injured.

New Rochelle was without their legendary coach, Lou DiRienzo, who will hopefully return next week in the State Semis.
Shenendehowa has two significant advantages over New Rochelle...
M.S. : 11/17/2019 8:06 am : link

...their offensive line is so much bigger than anything New Rochelle has faced before, and significantly bigger than what the Huguenots can trot out there.

And Shenendehowa has a very impressive passing game with a QB who is very, very accurate and who is given a good amount of time to throw. New Rochelle does not have much of a passing game at all. Their QB is more a threat to run than pass.

I don't want to say New Rochelle has just one weapon -- Jesse Parson -- but I will say that, if Shenendehowa controls him, it will be a very challenging game for New Rochelle.

Fun fact: the Shen QB is a Junior, and wasn’t the starting QB at the beginning of the year. The Senior QB who started vs. Shaker had a bad game and coach switched QB’s and haven’t lost since. Brody Vincenci is a good player who’s brother was once the starting QB for Shen. Shens RB is going to play D1 Lacrosse. Very good team.

Interesting! I've noticed the Shenendehowa star running back does a lot of nifty, shifty cut-back running. Also, that offensive line gives him a lot of space-room to work with!

Bottom line: Shenedehowa is really as good as it gets in NYS AA Public High School football, and it will surprise no one if they end up at the Dome again. And if they get past New Rochelle, my bet is they will win in the Dome!

It has been a while since Shen has won a state championship. New Rochelle kept them out of the dome back in 2003 in the semis. Ray Rice was on that team.
...down in NY Class C, Eric From BBI's hometown...

...and reigning Class C champs, Susquehanna Valley with a highly entertaining 44-36 win over an excellent Lowville Team.

Lowville quarterback Chad Bach was as advertised and then some. A 6-foot-3, 218-pound senior with a Grade-A cast of receivers, he passed for 335 yards and rushed for 126.

On the other side was Logan Haskell, who rushed for 279 yards and SV’s final five touchdowns after throwing for the first score.

Haskell has been unstoppable - really, he alone virtually IS the SV offense.

SV currently holds the states longest win streak at 26. This, from a program that once went 6 seasons without a win.
A lot of the Binghamton..

guys in Charlotte (including Giant Mike) are SV alums and former football players.

Of course, they were there during the dark years.

Giant Mike was in my house for my Sister in Law's 3rd grade birthday party, if memory is correct, AND his father was my wife's manager at CFG back in the 90's.

Binghamton features ONE degree of separation from person to person. If you know someone from Binghamton, I either know them or know someone who does.

And yeah, the laughingstock history of the football program is well known in these parts - 2 years ago, they got dropped to Class C just as a group of very strong coaches and players got to SVHS - I used to coach these kids in baseball and back then they were running up scores in the 50's on pee-wee counterparts. A lot of fun to watch them now.
This is very..

One of my good friends in HS married a SV alum, who unfortunately just passed this last year. Even though I was in Elmira, my best friend married a girl from SV, they moved to Charlotte, their friends moved down, my friends moved down and we have a cross-mingling of EFA/SV talk. When her husband passed, the SV guys were devastated. They played ball with him.
