And none are LTs. There are no Orlando Paces, Anthony Munoz ,Jonathan Ogdens or even Joe Thomas's in this draft. The LTs all have some level of question Marks; good picks perhaps after pick 5 but not before the 2 sure fire blue chip guys and a QB or 2. Tuas injury is a big xfactor but the 2 guys who the Giants must take if either are there : Chase Young or Jerry Jeudy. Both are absolute beasts at their positions and likely instant impact players at Edge and WR.
Jeudy has more of a chance to make it to us because right now I'd say the highest we pick is 3 with Cincy with no wins and Washington an absolute mess with 1 win. Washington unless somehow they have a chance of heart with Haskins isn't going QB and would be nuts to pass on Young.
I want an LT badly but I just don't think there is 1 worthy of the 3 spot (should we pick that high) .
Plus I think we may get a vet guy like Conklin for Jones.
Love Simmons but not at the position he plays and over Young or Jeudy.
Plenty of LT s will have late first early second grades
Becton
Niang
Prince
I’d take Simmons from Clemson with the first pick on the trade down
And fill the rest of the holes on defense via FA
With my other first and two 2s I’d take LT Becton from Louisville who will move up draft boards. I’d take Creed Humphrey in second and a WR in second
With 63 mill and ability to make even more space , I think we get at least one very good OT this offseason in FA.
Jeudy is so good. We are talking top 5-7 WR in NFL potential. Young is also obviously a no brainer if he is somehow there at our pick.
Don't know if Okudah is Denzel Ward good. If so he'd be an option if Young is gone too.
I think that it is possible that QBs go one and two
If Washington does not take a QB it is possible that they trade down

It would be foolish to give up on him that quick. Its not like he's surrounded by good coaching or talent
I don't want to hear about drafting WR's until those positions have been addressed.
You want the Giants to draft Randolph Scott?
Remember when we could've drafted Aaron Donald or Zack Martin but drafted Julie McCoy instead? Good times.
Nah,but I'd rather take someone who plays Alex Karras's position than Jerry Jeudy
I'm not opposed to trading down, but as it's been said a million times, you have to find someone willing to trade up.
Anyway, I don't think "Jeudy or a trade down" would - or should - be our only option. There should be several players available when we pick who could make an immediate impact on our defense, and I'd rather see the Giants draft one of them instead of a WR, no matter how highly regarded that WR is.
If Thomas was a beast LT I'd be all over it. I like him a lot but he isn't a sure fire player like Young or Jeudy.
At this point to be blunt only moron drafts a WR in the top 5. They are a Dime a dozen with the new rules. Even a total stud.

You might want to work on your communication skills before you start throwing the word "moron" around.
Snyder drafted Haskins himself. I think 31 of 32 other front offices in Washington's position go QB in the next draft given what Haskins has shown so far, but who knows what they'll do.
at this point trying to get some pieces for the OL is in FA should be priority 1a and some vet help on D is priority 1b ... meaning at least 1 tier piece for both categories.
OT, C and ER.
Though we may be able to pair Chase with Markus and that would not be bad if we can get 2 tier-1 OLs in FA. The go best available WR or FS in rd 2 (non reach of Course). Then BPA the rest of the draft.
Ogden and Pace type LT's come around once or twice every 20 years...
Sorry, with all due respect, I don’t see any of these old beaten up guys the future. Just more money down a bad whole. Draft your friggin OT and C and build a line that will grow with the QB.

The best hope may have to be that either Trent Williams, Joe Staley, or Jason Peters becomes available and then there is the risk that all three have been banged up recently

Ideal is draft - I agree.
But they may need a 1 year rental and any of them is an upgrade of Solder.
If NYG has a shot at Chase Young, they won't be getting any of the top 4 or 5 OTs in the 2020 class.
Has that ceiling for sure but no longer see him as a cant miss or near cant miss. Just too many technique things. Doesnt mean the ceiling isn't high it is. Just think the risk is much much lower with JJ or CY.
Wouldn't it be vintage Gettleman to do so though?
He's got stud size but far from stud technique. Reaches too much and doesn't bend real well. There are probably 4-5 other LTs that are just better overall prospects in my view...
I guess I just like Wirfs more than you do.
Or traded down, if their desired selection is not as highly valued as they think?
The Giants are in such deep shit in part because they are not aggressive in their draft. They have never taken the a risk by trading down for extra players, and they pretty consistently select people ahead of their perceived position. Thats called squandering assets. That's fine when you a rich in talent, but the Giants........

Wirfs has tremendous upside and is a heck of an athlete at that size. At minimum hes a top RT. Can he play LT? That's a key question if you are drafting top 5.
Jerry Jeudy I think is a good example that was brought up in this draft. Yeah the guy looks to be an unbelievable talent, but it seems like year after year most of the first round receivers disappoint and it's the guys taken in round 2 and 3 that end up being the impact players at better value. Here is a list of receivers that have gone in the first round of recent drafts: DJ Moore, Calvin Ridley, Corey Davis, John Ross, Corey Coleman, Will Fuller, Josh Doctson, Laquon Treadwell, Amari Cooper, Kevin White, DeVante Parker, Nelson Agholor, Breshad Perriman, Phillip Dorsett.
Besides Cooper, and maybe Fuller if he wasn't always injured, are you happy with any of those guys as your first round pick? It is still too early to tell on Moore and Ridley, but it's pretty safe to say the rest of them have not been worth their draft slot. In those same drafts, these are the guys that could have been had in the 2nd or 3rd round: Courtland Sutton, Christian Kirk, DJ Chark, Michael Gallup, Curtis Samuel, Juju Smith-Schuster, Cooper Kupp, Chris Godwin, Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shephard, Michael Thomas, Tyler Boyd, Tyler Lockett. That is a much more impressive group, and it isn't even close.
The last draft that there were multiple "stud" receivers taken in the first round was 2014 when Sammy Watkins (who's been a disappointment), Mike Evans, Odell Beckham, and Brandin Cooks went early. Even in that draft though Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, Jarvis Landry, and John Brown went in rounds 2 or 3. It just doesn't seem worth it to take a receiver in the first round, and especially not as high as we would have to take someone like Jeudy or Lamb.
Moving on, they have to draft BPA, period. They have so many holes that almost any position can be improved. We'd all love OT, ER, ILB or FS early. Let's see if Julian Love gets in and is lot better than Bethea. Team speed needs to upgraded. I think they are set at interior DLine.
Listening to the games I heard many good OTs who were drafted in Rd 2 or 3. So you can build an effective OL outside of the 1st round.
