IMO he can play 3-4 OLB. We don’t know if the Giants are keeping the 3-4 scheme next season as it’s likely that Bettcher is out. Either way you take Young.
but I don't think they'll give up on Haskins after not even a half a year of being a starter, unless he really plays awful down the stretch and makes no progress. I don't think Haskins is very good, but ownership has not changed, I can't see them giving up on Haskins just yet. I believe they'll take Young or Thomas, not a QB. If the Giants wind up with the guy the Redskins don't take, that would be excellent as both seem to be immediate impact players.
They either take Young (if he doesn't go 1) or they trade down with a team that is hot for Young or a QB and they still get their OT. No way they stay at 2 AND take an OT.
You can’t purchase Franchise Left Tackle.... Tunsil netted the Dolphins 2 first rounders conversely the Seahawks acquired Clowney for a third... granted there were some moving pieces and contractual considerations but still that puts in perspective the priority teams place on offensive linemen versus defensive linemen. It seems as though every off season we see quality pass rushers moving while the same can’t be said about quality offensive linemen (see Trent Williams.) All that to say if a superstar offensive linemen drops to the Giants DG needs to snatch and run.
Despite what's going on with Williams, and the fact they have Kerrigan and Sweat (1st rounder this year), Washington would be total fools to not draft Chase Young at 2.

Young is the best player in the draft, period.
Agreed. Young would also get the fans excited again, even if the team is poor.
RE: If you have a shot at a player like Young.... Â
....then you draft him and adjust your scheme accordingly.
This +1,000,000. You don't pass on top tier talent because you don't see how he would fit a scheme that isn't working. You bring him in and adjust the scheme to free him up to do what he does best.

Trent Williams will be gone next year and they have to protect their investment Haskins or else it will be Bob Griff all over again.

If I was a top 5 NFL LT, I would ask for an exorbitant amount of $$$, franchise QB level. Basically point to Solder's contract and how absurd it is to pay just some incrementally better contract.
Having said that, I would only take a Pace/Ogden level LT prospect over Young.
To land Chase Young we need the #2 pick behind the Bengals and ahead of the Redskins and to achieve that we need to lose to both the Redskins and Miami, because looking at Washington's schedule I can't see another victory for them other than against NY.

Unfortunately Jim, your wise words here are TRUTH....no way is the Georgia boy or ant tackle picked 2. I don’t see that put happening at all. We pretty much have to be picking 2 and that ain’t happening with us winning 4 games.

Unless Washington is open to trading back to say 4-6 with a team wanting a QB at 2.

Interesting scenario....Washington at 2 trading down....but it would have to someone who is top 6-8 because I don’t think they would want to move down too far to make their first selection.
But, if Chase Young is as good as many are saying, then they probably don’t trade out. THINK WHAT BOSA HAS DONE TO SF.
Fire James Bettcher.
However, I doubt that Washington takes Thomas in lieu of Young.
It is way too early to predict the draft.
I believe that there will be players that move up and those that fall.
I believe that Wirf, Espensa, Hebert, will be rising.
Young is 1a and Espensa is 1b.
Washington may end up taking a QB
My gut tells me the Redskins have to draft an OT. That would leave Giants with Young.
If the Redskins draft young, we take the tackle.
