3 Mock Drafts from CBS (11/14/2019)...

M.S. : 11/18/2019 9:55 am

...two out of the three have Giants selecting Jerry Jeudy WR out of Alabama at #3. (The other has OT Andrew Thomas out of Georgia.)

Everyone knows Jerry Jeudy is a fantastic play-maker, and maybe he's the best value at #3, but how can a team draft him when it can neither run block nor pass rush?

IMO, we can't take Jerry Jeudy at #3, but maybe he's an alluring trade bait.

Also note all three Mock Drafts have Oregon's QB Justin Herbert at #12 (to the San Diego Chargers). IMO, he won't drop further than #5 (and could easily go higher).

With Barkley he s likely to go BPA with a top pick
QBs always go

higher than predicted.

I'd say its only a very slim chance the Giants take a WR at #3...

is generally very poor at predicting drafts. They basically throw names out there.
I
AcidTest : 11/18/2019 10:02 am : link
don't see us taking Jeudy at #3. As of now, it should be Young or a trade down. But Young will likely be gone, and the Giants never trade down.
I'll admit, I look at them
allstarjim : 11/18/2019 10:03 am : link
when they post a new mock, but I don't take mocks very seriously when they're done in March, I sure as hell don't take any seriously this far away from the draft.

Right now you're seeing an overreaction to the Tua news. It could very well be that Tua's surgery is very successful, and that projections are for him to be 100% in 8 months from now. If that's the case, he'll still likely go at #2.

How sad is this

It’s middle of November and we are talking about mock drafts. Absolutely embarrassing

This is a fact.
The group of QBs coming out this year might all go top 5.
Burroughs, Tua, Fromm, and Herbert.
This is really shaping up to be a great year for the Giants to trade out of the top 5 and collect a haul of picks which they need desperately.
This team has and continues to stink
The_Boss : 11/18/2019 10:12 am : link
Along the OL and at every level on defense. Yeah WR1 is a need, but this team needs to rid itself of its glass jaw. We need to get tougher.
I forgot about Jalen Hurts too...
Dnew15 : 11/18/2019 10:15 am : link
This is the year to have a top pick and not need to burn it on a QB.

All part of a rebuild, unfortunately.
In my opinion, BPA should never be an absolute
Mike from Ohio : 11/18/2019 10:25 am : link
nor should positional need. You have to weigh them. This team needs Oline and pass rush help desperately. The only way you don't take the best player at one of those positions is if someone like Jeudy is just heads and shoulders better than everyone else on the board at the time...by a WIDE margin.

Having said that, I am not a scout but would be disappointed in picking a WR that high unless it was believed he was the next Megatron.
Build Up the Lines
Samiam : 11/18/2019 11:13 am : link
Over the years, the Giants took Beckham, Engram and Barkley and passed on quality players on the OL and the DL. And how had that worked out? What’s the definition of insanity?
Don't Kill Me......but the five QB's mentioned above...
GiantBlue : 11/18/2019 11:13 am : link
Anyone of them the Giants would prefer over Jones?

Then trade Jones?

Of stick with Jones and trade down/pick Chase Young?
Jeudy
Jon in NYC : 11/18/2019 11:14 am : link
is an unbelievable player. Would be thrilled with him.

Young is option 1 but Jeudy isn't super far behind.
The football gods are exacting their revenge
WillieYoung : 11/18/2019 11:15 am : link
for 2007 and 2011 when we won Super Bowls we had no business winning. The Tua injury may affect us more than anyone (except Tua), as the trade value of our first pick is diminished
Washington
Kyle in NY : 11/18/2019 11:16 am : link
getting Chase Young is a horrific scenario though
If chase young isn’t there
Justlurking : 11/18/2019 11:26 am : link
You trade down. Need to accumulate picks. They need 4 OL from this draft, 2 edge rushers and 4 LBs. They should be able to sign a FA WR
If Washington cleans house
Dnew15 : 11/18/2019 11:30 am : link
it will be interesting to see if they dump Haskins and pick a different QB.
You're right
LakeGeorgeGiant : 11/18/2019 11:31 am : link
it's always best to leave superior talent on the board in favor of inferior linemen whenever possible.

Once we have an all pro OL we will force picks at WR. Good thinking.
Question for people more knowledgeable than me

What makes Jeudy so much better than Cee Dee Lamb? To my untrained eye, they both look great.
The only three players I want
BigBlueBuff : 11/18/2019 11:37 am : link
in the first round right now are Young, Jeudy, and Delpit. I think all three have a chance to be All Pro caliber players. There are others who I'll warm up to as we go through the silly season of the pre draft process, but right now I'd be happy with any of them.
All things equal, I'd rather have the tackle. But I think Jeudy can
Ira : 11/18/2019 11:40 am : link
be a star, while Thomas will be solid - maybe a little better.
Not saying we should take Jeudy
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 11/18/2019 11:50 am : link
but staying on the field offensively and efficiency in scoring helps the defense by limiting options and resting the defense. So if Jeudy is the top player at that time by a wide margin, then you have to consider it.

It is still a long time from now.
I don't see the top 5 grade
Sy'56 : 11/18/2019 11:50 am : link
in Jeudy at all. Maybe not even top 10 to be honest.

How about Eason?
IMO Tua is going to drop out of the top 10

Too many injuries/surgeries in a short period of time.
It's way too early in the process
Dnew15 : 11/18/2019 1:17 pm : link
to be making these kinds of proclamations, but this is going to be a tremendous group of QBs. I can't wait until scouting season to see how they stack up.

I think all of them (Tue/Hebert/Fromm/Burrow maybe even Hurts) would have gone before Murray and Jones this year and I think both of them are pretty dang good.
I totally agree with Sy
gtt350 : 11/18/2019 2:22 pm : link
Jeudy, while talented, dropped critical passes against LSU. It
would be OBJ all over again instead of a top lineman
If SLayton continues to improve we have our #1
gtt350 : 11/18/2019 2:23 pm : link
.
If they can get one or two FA OL
Dinger : 11/18/2019 2:48 pm : link
then they take Juedy. I'd still be pissed that they wouldn't get their most glaring need.....Defense. It should be EDGE/LB, OL, Safety, ILB, Safety, WR.....but I am a strong believer in BPA. no more reaching.
Love Jeudy
Breeze_94 : 11/18/2019 7:17 pm : link
and after Young, I think he is the best player in the draft. He's a mix of OBJ/Amari Cooper. Love the idea of giving DJ a receiver of his caliber to grow with.

But...I don't know if I can stomach taking a receiver before fixing the OL. Having great weapons makes no difference if the line can't hold up in pass-pro.

If the Giants can land a starting caliber LT and RT some other way in the offseason, and a pass rusher like Ngakoue in FA, then I'd be okay with it.
No way in hell
Marty866b : 11/18/2019 7:50 pm : link
That we do not select either a pass rusher or an offensive lineman number 1 next year.
Chase Young is by far my favorite player in the draft
Jay on the Island : 11/18/2019 8:09 pm : link
If he's gone I would prefer Andrew Thomas but I won't complain if they take Jeudy. He could be an elite WR and it's never a bad idea to give your young franchise QB a stud #1 WR.

Me neither. He kind of reminds me of Amari Cooper, if I'm taking a WR top 5 I want a dude that can be physically dominant.
I was going to ask same question
Bob in Newburgh : 11/19/2019 11:42 am : link
There seems to be little concern that Jeudy has any weaknesses and will be a relatively safe 1st rd pick.

But I see nothing of transcendence about him. Not size, not speed, not hands, not quickness. Alabama alone, has WRs rated higher in every characteristic.
