I didn't have a chance to catch the Bears game yesterday or read up on their stats, and I'm curious to know what we can expect from them next week. Are they a big threat? Is this a winnable game for us? What should we be looking out for?
and probably force our fumble prone QB into some more turnovers.
Despite this, and what you'll hear on BBI, it's still a winnable game because their offense is one of the worst units in the league. Even our defense has a chance to cause problems for them. They also have an awful kicking game.
Giants will rightfully be significant underdogs, but a few big plays from Barkley, Engrem, Tate, etc., and the Bears offense plays like themselves and a 13-10 type of win seems possible.
I am expected to see many breakdowns along the OL Â
as usual. 14-0 deficit in the 1Q, a lot of Saquon up the middle for 1 yard, some bad clock management by Shurmur at the end of the half followed by a head scratching, last gasp PI challenge in the 3rd quarter. 17-43 career record for Shurmur at 4pm EST on Sunday.
They're limited on offense and have a QB who has regressed. Their OL play is also poor. Will be an interesting match up for our porous defense who hasn't been able to stop bad teams.
When we're on offense, that's where it will get ugly. The Bears have guys in their front who can absolutely wreck a game (See Khalil Mack).
On paper, it looks like a decent match for us because their offense is so bad, but its more likely their defensive front dominates our offensive line and we lose an ugly looking game.
every game is winnable, it s a question of the probability of a win.
With this Giants team it is difficult to believe their probability of winning is 50% or more on any given Sunday; certainly the Arizona game validates that pt.; at least for me.
That said, this Bears team is reeling, and the same might be said of them. So yes, I think this qualifies as a winnable game for the Giants, maybe as high as a 40% probability.
They did beat this team last season, and the Bears defense is not as formidable as it was at that time.
Chase Daniels will probably be the quarterback, an improvement.
Hopefully we will limit the mistakes. But their offense isn't very explosive and it should be a competitive game. If we make a few big plays it will be hard for them to win.
start Trubisky, just so he can get his confidence going and a healthy attitude about being an NFL QB ! I expect Trubisky to have his best numbers of the year.
but I'm worried most about what they can do with Cohen/Montgomery and moving them around (like we should be doing with Barkley) because our LB'ers don't have a prayer.
If Nagy was smart, he'd start Trubisky and watch him get Â
extremely healthy on the carcass of the Giants defense. Chase Daniel really sucks.
As for the Giants, after watching the Rams have some success with the power running game against the Bears, Pat Shurmer will have Daniel Jones in the shotgun 98% of the time.
if their oline is hurt or underperforming that's both a personnel and coaching problem. Their skill players are pretty much on par with last year or better (especially with Robinson healthy) but Trubisky regressed greatly - again both personnel and coaching.
My hope is for Jones to move around the pocket better and buy time, thereby limiting turnovers. Not expecting a multiple TD game from him, but hoping for a no turnover game.
Their offense will put up points simply because the defense is that bad.

I'm pretty sure, in these parts any how, that player regression is completely a coaching problem.
Cohen isn't as good as he was last year. Anthony Miller hasn't taken the next step. Nagy is supposed to be an offensive mastermind - Reid disciple - how is he any different than Shurmur as far as being a disappointment?
THe BEars defense is the only reason the Bears are 2 games better than the Giants. That side of the football is remarkably talented.
I'd argue that Shurmur has done more with less than Nagy has this year.
The O-Line will be obliterated by their front and won't open anything up for Barkley. On defense, who knows. The Bears aren't very good on offense but I think they'll be able to do enough to win by double digits.
The game will likely be boring, uneventful, and sloppy due to 2 bad teams playing each other and 2 bad coaches setting the gameplans.
on the road, in likely cold weather, against a very good defense. The season of learning on the job continues. If he can come out of this game playing well, it is yet another notch in the belt that gives us hope for a better future.
But I fully expect the Bears anemic offense to get healthy against the Giants defense and the Giants fall down 14-0 before you blink again, and Jones has to fight his way back to trying to make the score closer.
Everything is trending that the #2 pick in the draft is going to come down to the Redskins game in Washington.
RE: I can't see the Giants going to Soldier Field and pulling this one out Â
This might be the first time where both fans are going to be angry watching this.
Bears fans will be booing everything when they are on offense. Giants fans will be hoping a bad result gets Shurmur fired.
This will be the one week the Bears have to look good on offense. If they can't do it against us I'm telling their fans, they should cancel the rest of their games.
Trubisky has been struggling, he got benched, and how the Giants come along and will make him look like a superstar! Look for Trubisky to have epic numbers against they Giants, something like 350 yards passing and 4 td's!
similar to the 2007 Patriots vs this agonizing defense, find the right path. Mitchell will "get back on the right track", will be close to 80% in passing attempts, have the city of Chicago believing he is a star again.
Bears 34, Giants 12. Getting boring and not a very gripping season to say the slightest. Get it over with.

And yes - I like to be able to work in this meme whenever possible:

bear hug.
Is that too much to ask for?
This year - it's roster talent that's the problem, not coaching.
How is that possible?
Yet, when it comes to the NYG woes, it's all Shurmur and coaching...
Their offense will put up points simply because the defense is that bad.
so meh..........
Penn State-Ohio State is where it is at this weekend!

I'll be there in person Sunday.
