j_rud : 10:17 am I was really hesitant based on early reviews and there are moments when the politics are overt but I have to say, it's grabbed my attention. The world theyve created in 2019 does feel like a realistic reaction to the events of the graphic novel and its really hitting stride. Pretty compelling stuff, and should only get better as Ozymandias and (hopefully) Dr. Manhattan enter the fold. Anyone else watching? I love it so much cjac : 10:23 am : link : reply I cant get enough of it. Jeremy Irons was such a great choice for that role, he is amazing. I wish i could just binge and watch the rest of the season. I have not watched crackerjack465 : 10:28 am : link : reply episode 5 yet, but episodes 1-4 are great. I never read the comics either, so I'm piking this up now and I've still thoroughly enjoyed it. Think Story on youtube does great 10 minute-ish recap videos on each episode which has really helped me, and I watched a few videos summarizing the comics. Think Tank summary, ep 4. - ( New Window ) Last night was pretty damn confusing, but a good episode figgy2989 : 10:30 am : link : reply I know that was kind of the point of this series to have so many different story lines/characters. Jean Smart is doing a tremendous job with the Laurie Blake character. Save the replies LawrenceTaylor56 : 11:39 am : link : reply for the eventual random deletion becauase it's not a NFT. But I just started this last night. It got my attention. I just finished Jack Ryan on Amazon. It's a great show. |
I mean, the Giants are an NFT at this point

Watchmen Recap - ( New Window )
thanks ..helpful because this is hard to follow and disjoint. Suspect it might not make it past S1 unless it was not intended.
remind me of some of the recent marvel movies tossing random bullshit in to cover someones tastes.. ie dude eating a can of beans last night watching 2 superheros (WTF). odd

with the episode by episode breakdown I've been following for anyone who has been confused. Posted this in the last thread before it was deleted.

I think the beans were a bit of a callback to Rorschach. The Looking Glass character mirrors him in several ways.

I never watched Lost but The Leftovers (another Damon Lindelof HBO show) was similar. It didn't seem like they had a plan after season 1 and he threw a lot of random stuff in there that was never explained/resolved.

According to Lindelof:
"‘I think there’s a fair amount of hubris in planning multiple seasons of a television show in this day and age’, Lindlof said. ‘Every single idea we had is represented in these nine episodes, there was no time where we were like, “Let’s save that for later.'"
So maybe we never get a second season. I'm enjoying this one. It's a chaotic mess but even as someone who has never read the comics, I'm enjoying the ride.
I've read Watchmen probably four or five times. It's a classic, one of those comics that kind of transcends and redefines the medium (my opinion). Definitely worth the time.
The show is really starting to catch on. It has taken a few episodes to kind of get where they're at post-comics, catch on to who is who, and what is going on, but now that the foundation has been laid, I'm finding it very interesting to see what they're doing in the "post-squid attack" world. The most recent episode was a good one.
I like where they're going with it.

I'm really enjoying it, i'm wondering if they are going to bring in Dreiberg at some point. I'm sure Dr. Manhattan is going to appear eventually.
