Mike to Nice overview of DG so far

Rjanyg : 11/18/2019 4:36 pm
very good job talking about the job that Gettlemen has done for 2018 and 2019 including what he would have done. Eye opener

I bet he blames DG and tries to justify Pat Shurmur.

This doesn’t have to be either / or. You could think Shurmur is awful AND believe DG had done a shit job.
I cannot really give this guy credit.

He said Gettleman wouldn't pick up the phone for the number 2 pick when we took Barkley. False.

He said we should have traded with the Jets. False. The Jets very clearly stated that they never inquired with us and made that trade with Indy very early in the process.
Well in his plan had we not taken Barkley but traded back for

a haul of picks we would be in much better shape today. He lists the picks we could have gotten. I like Barkley but if his plan was possible which I have no idea because I don't have the time to research all the picks and their availibilty we would be much better off. Our Oline and defensive issues would be solved except our CB's would still be in question. Now he assumes we would still get DJ this year and the rest of the picks we got this year. He doesn't raise the possibilty we would have picked in a different place in 2019 and bases his analysis on letting Eli go this year to have room to sign the free agents he has us selecting this past off season. A lot of it is guessing to fit his position.
And then he gives the Sam Beal pick a C?

No, we couldn't have gotten those picks as there was never an offer. It is pointless to discuss what the Colts had as at that point in time the Jets have never traded with us and wouldn't trade with us especially when a franchise altering trade was happening. Go read the reports. The Jets inquired with every team but us.
I'm done watching.

He said we should have traded away everybody in the offseason of 2018. There is this thing called the cap and we couldn't take the cap hit of trading everybody in one year. Ugh.
Who the heck is Mike To Nice?????

Does he have some connection to the league, former GM, scout??? If not.....then why do any of us give a flying F what he says any more than anyone on this board?????
I see his version of what the Giants roster could be,

but I didn't listen to the whole thing. Did he ever say who would have played LT in 2018 if DG didn't sign Solder?

I posted since I didn’t see a thread about it. I thought it was well done in that he put a ton of work into it and used some decent reasoning. Hind sight is always 2020 and while I think he is clearly not a fan of Gettleman, he is fair with his grades especially the free agent acquisitions.

He loses me at giving the Barkley pick a C + since he had an amazing rookie year and is. Pearly hurt and under utilized this year.

It doesn’t have to be gospel just an interesting take.

He said earlier that he would have signed Solder so it is just dumb. Basically, he wanted DG to bat 1.000.
Can't argue with most of the assessments

But his what the roster could be segment is nonsense. There's no way to really know how that stuff might have played out.

You CAN say -- and he didn't, that in the last two drafts, the Giants could have either had Barkley and Jones, or Darnold and (pass rusher) Josh Allen. At this moment in time, while they DO desperately need a pass rusher, Jones already looks at least as good, if not better than Darnold, and Barkley appears to be a better RB than Allen is a pass rusher, but having a stud pass rusher is more important.

I would also posit that Markus Golden is better than Gallman/Perkins/journeyman scrub of the year. Not saying that we still don't need a pass rusher, but in aggregate...
