NFT: Soccer: Pochettino OUT at Spurs

Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 11/19/2019 7:32 pm
Sacked this evening. A bit harsh considering Spurs were basically working with a mid-table budget, a tired team, and Daniel Levy's refusal to sell players without extracting every last cent. Poch will be fine, likely ending up at Manchester United, Real Madrid or another Spanish team.

His reported replacement? Wait a minute, that's the Special One's music!

WOW...

Interesting timing. Haven't paid much attention to footy due to international byweek so funny that I am first hearing about this on a gridiron forum.

As an Arsenal fan, this is good news because he had shown that he has been a very good coach.
Spurs were fun to watch...

under Poch.

Now they will be an eye sore under Mourinho.

Believe it or not...

I actually think this is a perfect situation for Mourinho. Spurs are what he's been lacking for years. A good, but not top team.

He is going to bring back his old underdog, us vs them, aggressive sometimes borderline dirty team that he can bring into away stadiums and grind out 1-0 wins that will annoy the shit out of the other team and fans while he trolls them and the other coaches from the sideline. He already has shithouse players like Dele and Lamela who love to taunt. They'll be perfect for him.

That's the kind of team that made him famous and successful and he hasn't had it in years. It's the kind of team he needs and he has it now.

Got to be honest I think it's going to work. Against all odds too since you would think it wouldn't. I think he's going to be around there for a while too.
Mourinho..

never stays anywhere a while!! But I do agree that the Spurs are an ideal team for him to take control of. With Kane and Son up front to score on a counter, he can try and use his D and those players who are on the edge to harass and mud up the match to a grind.
Mouriho to the Spurs? Welp guess I'm a Spurs fan now, I've been

and fun with the Special One on board, good stuff.

Yes, the fall-off from last summer's CL is dramatic (and I never considered that final to be between the two best Clubs in Euro soccer). This CL cycle has been embarrassing for Spurs, HT to moe's comment. Also, is Ericksen's tenure still up in the air? Haven't been paying att'n.
As a Spurs fan I think this was the right move for the current state

of the club. Personally, I was hoping Spurs would hit the reset button this past summer and get rid of a few veterans whose contracts are expiring (Eriksen, Alderwereild, Vertonghen, etc). I wanted them to go young again, and Poch thrives in developing young players. However, when Levy and Co. decided to stay status quo than the writing was on the wall for Poch.

Spurs are trying to get the most out of their current squad, and Poch took them as far as he could. If anyone can deliver a trophy or two from them it’s Jose. Here’s hoping he still has some magic left in that mind of his...
That's lame

And now we have to listen the Special one whine every week about how he was robbed or cheated in game. I hope the Normal One kicks his ass again.
Poch has done a great job with the Spurs

He took them to rarified air in the soccer world, I think they are crazy for letting him go. I also agree its a great thing for Poch personally. After 6 years or so he was probably getting stale. Now he will have his pick of some major jobs throughout the world of soccer. He's King for a Day.

that Mourinho will really have no transfer budget in January, I do think most people's instincts here are right - he works best under the siege mentality. This was also discussed on Sirius this morning, - veterans needed a new voice and Jose does well with established players.

What's funny is that now years later, Mourinho is actually turning into his famous puppet caricature from Setanta Sports!
