They play inconsistently from time to time, but what team doesn’t? It would be nice to see them just blow someone out, but how can you complain about a team that just finds a way to win each night?
Varlamov’s play has been good, not great. He makes the saves you expect but not the big ones you need. Greiss is clearly the better of the two right now.
And I am pretty sure feelflows is an Islander fan trolling you. Maybe he can give us the crowd splits on Thursday?
With this team there isn't the feeling that a one or two goal or even three goal deficit in the third is lights out.
They showed sparks last year and they are picking up where they left off! Exciting times!!!
Now if only the Rangers would help us out a bit tonight v. Washington.....Islanders have four games in hand...but it would be nice to grab first again....also after Pittsburgh Thursday night...they head West to San Jose.....
Just been a pleasure to watch night in and night out. With how bad the Giants, I havn't really missed a beat given how great the Isles are playing.
Beauvillier has turned into a young stud right before our eyes. He's only 22 years old! Now that's he's put on some weight, you're seeing his confidence soar and teams just don't have an answer for him. The Isles are going to have to pay him and Barzal, but having these two kids locked for the long haul, along with our d corps and maybe even Sorokin (along with Trotz of course), and the Isles are going relevant for a while.

On a points earned per game basis, the Islanders are already in first. 5 points less than WSH but 4 games in hand. 31 points in 19 games for NYI (1.63 per game), 36 points in 23 (1.565 per game) games for the Caps
Isles are first team in NHL history to win back-to-back games when trailing by at least goals with under 7 minutes to play in third period of both games.

Ouch. Hudson comparison?
That's almost as bad as saying I would switch following teams to a lb annual championship contender.
are building up right now toward moving into what's going to be a state of the art best arena in the NHL couldn't be timed better. Have a few fun seasons at the Coliseum, close the place down, and then move into Belmont as a contender.
Not bad for a team that was a laughingstock for a decade plus and continually the subject of relocation rumors.

As noted, Anthony Beauvillier is a different player this year. I'm very, very happy we've held onto him during his growing pains. He's become the top six winger we've been looking for.
Second... Jordan Eberle. The guy hasn't had a goal all year long. He has to be frustrated. We're down a pair of goals with less than 5 minutes to go, he has a lane directly to the net and might have had a decent opportunity to pot one. Instead, he's totally focused on just making the right play and makes an absolutely gorgeous pass to Bailey who scores and gets us right back in it.
We all know it was a g great pass, but there would've been a grand total of 0 Islander fans complaining that he made a selfish play to shoot there had he done so. Was a subtle play that was really the embodiment of what this team is.
battling for pucks Eberle and Beau are different players this year Â
then they were at the beginning of last year. I still don't think Beau is a true top 6 skill player, he's more of a great 3rd liner or puck retrieval guy if he's playing with more skilled players. Right now he's confident so he's scored some big goals obviously, but the biggest change this year is how much more active he's been without the puck - that's where he's been a difference maker. His finishing ability still leaves a lot to be desired.
Eberle just has to get on track - he does have the scoring skill, he's just been snakebit about obviously only played half the games due to the injury. We've seen this before from him and I'd guess there's a 4 or 5 goal week coming at some point.

I think that's the best part of this team. I don't expect Beau & Brassard to keep up this scoring touch. When they start to cool down, I do expect Eberle, Lee etc to start producing
He's been hurt, but yea, he hasn't lit it up yet scoring wise, but I see him out there creating chances so I think it's just a matter of time.
A bit more concerned about Lee. Hasn't looked too dangerous with the Barzal line, but he's historically a slow starter and still on pace for like 22 goals, so no need to panic. Just hoping for a breakout from him soon.
We have played so well with a good amount of injuries Â
we wouldn't be screaming for Barry to play Dobson yet?
How times and trust in coaches have changed
Thought Dobson looked really good the past two games he played and think he should be playing a bit more. However, given the team's results, think I just need to keep my mouth shut and trust Trotz.
is how all 4 lines play a game where all positions support each other. The team is on the same page. Everyone knows their job. I am Not used to seeing this in an Islanders uniform. Not used to seeing team hockey. #suckit
last night (4 crossbars in the first 30 minutes by the Caps!) and did us a huge favor. Isles now have a strong argument that they have the best record in the NHL (5 pts behind WSH with 5 games in hand). Fun stuff.
They'll have to face an angry Pitt team in Brooklyn tonight. Looking forward to it.
Unfortunately gave the cunty Yinz a point giving up a late goal Â
This is your stanley cup.

How's the baby? 10 months now, right?
Have to watch games on tape delay most of the time after she (and wife) are sleeping, but it's still a good deal.

It's crazy that she's only lived in a world where the Islanders have been good

moves around and loves to grab all of our "grown-up" stuff rather than play with her toys. Honestly, a lot more fun now than when she was a newborn.

Hhahaha. Yes, I'll have to explain to her one day how spoiled she is.

YES! YES! YES!!!
Lot of road games coming up for NYI.
