DL Dalvin Tomlinson Conference Call

DL Dalvin Tomlinson Conference Call -- November 25, 2019

Q: The defense played one of its better games yesterday. Is it frustrating that this is kind of disjointed? It seems like when the offense plays well, the defense doesn’t and vice versa. Is that frustrating to you guys?
A: No, I feel like all you can do is control what you can control and that’s the defensive side of the ball for us.

Q: When you are trying to get better and working hard, is it hard when there is no positive reinforcement of a win for so long? How do you overcome that?
A: You just have to come in with your working hat on every day and just keep working and keep grinding day in and day out. Take it day by day.

Q: Is that difficult to do?
A: I feel like we have a lot of competitors on our defense. We all understand why we’re here, we have hard workers over here. We will keep coming in every day and we will keep working.

Q: What do you hope this team can accomplish in December with no playoffs on the line and things like that. What is there to play for?
A: We are playing for our Giants pride. Just coming out here to try and get some wins under our belt, keep working and playing for each other.

Q: Individually, it seems you have gotten more sacks, which to me means more pressure on the quarterback these last couple of games than you did the first two and half years of your career. Why do you think that is?
A: Just working with Gary Emanuel, working on my flaws and getting better every week. Just keep coming in each week working on my craft every day in practice.

Q: Has something clicked for you? Just being a little bit more of a veteran? Is there something more specific you can attribute it to?
A: The more you play, you just learn a little bit more about the game. There is an understanding of how the flow of the game goes. That’s probably it.
Has this guy ever made a noticeable play in his 3 years here?

To me he seems like another Reese pick destined to be jettisoned at the end of his rookie deal.

Yes, he was very good against the Patriots, making a number of noticeable plays in short yardage for example.

He also had 9 tackles and a sack last week and three solo tackles and a QB pressure this week. Kinda odd to be bashing the guy when he's probably had one of his better stretches of footbal
Here’s my question:

Dalvin, In your final year at Alabama, the Crimson Tide won 14 games. By what season do you expect to notch that many victories with the Giants? 2020? 2021?

Do you think you could call up coach Saban and beg him to come to this rotten franchise and clean up the mess??

The guy is a tremendous coach. If you deny that fact there is no sense in arguing with you.

Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick were both uninspiring with the Jets and Bronws as well. How they doing now??

I was only half serious about going after Saban but there have long been stories of mutual interest. With the state of this franchise bringing in a program god is what we need. There are not many out there. He is one of the few.
I highly doubt Saban wants to come back to the NFL

He is 68 and has a pretty cushy job for a head coach compared to the NFL with all the media. The guy is a college football legend. In the NFL he is just a guy.

I wouldnt want him anyway, he quit on Miami.

The Belichick being a bad coach on the Browns is a little bit misleading, he had them at two straight 7-9 records and made the playoffs at 11-5. The last season was a wash because it leaked that the team was being moved to Baltimore and they tanked. He wasn't the Belichick of today, but that's a miraculous record for the Browns..
