Top offseason priority? Creating a Strength

Touchdown maker : 11/27/2019 11:54 am
The 2011 team had flaws but we had one thing on each side of the ball we could hang our hat on, elite passing offense and elite pass rush.

The giants need to find a way to create strengths on each side of the ball this offseason.

IF we wind up with the second pick we should pay whatever it takes to add Yannick or Shaq Barrett. That combined with Chase you now have a strength on defense.

What would you try to build as our team strength given what’s available and what we currently have?
I'd like to see a good inside linebacker to pair with Ryan Connelly.

Isaiah Simmons would be a great one.
good thing gettleman traded away what might be

the first pick in the third round.

next years 4th or 5th will probably be pretty high too.

gettleman's strength thus far seems to be getting rid of third round picks for "assets" like beal and williams, and similarly, blowing 4th round picks in various ways (lauletta, ogletree).

we all hoped his strength would be creating a dominant OL. so far he's got maybe two pieces in place there. maybe.
Where we are now

I would say the front 3 (we have 4 players who can legitimately start in this league) is a strength and a healthy Saquon would be a strength.

I think the offseason is more of plugging glaring weaknesses - ILB, FS and OL. These have all been holes for years.

D.G. And P.S.

Somewhere else in 2020 is the best hope in creating a winning giants attitude.
Cunning plan

Draft Chase Young. A difference maker on defence elevates the players around him. See Nick Bosa. See the effect on the Bears defence of adding Khalil Mack. Ergo, you need the 2nd draft pick and pray that the Bengals don't forego the opportunity to draft a QB, as they clearly need one.

Replace Pat Shurmur. His record speaks for itself.

Strengthen the OL and make better use of the running game.

If there is insufficient improvement a year from now, then it's Gettleman's head that rolls.
We need a strong draft and UFA's

Not big money UFA's but solid pickups.
We should pick a top running back with our first pick
Jimmy Googs : 11/28/2019 11:20 am : link
and go with split backfield with that guy and Saquon.

We will dominate in the running game...

Traded a 4th + a 5th to move up and draft Baker
