The #Giants are expected to place longtime long snapper Zak DeOssie (knee/wrist) on IR, sources say. A 2007 fourth-round pick and two-time Super Bowl winner, this could very well be the end of his time with the team.
long snappers the Giants have ever had and a top special teamer in his prime who could get downfield and make tackles after snapping. Going to games you could hear his shrieking scream as he ran down to distract the return man (I never actually saw it work, but it was worth a try).
He lost a bit this year but all in all, he and Eli came into the league together and will go out together. A great Giant at an underappreciated position.

It's like kickers. If you hear the guy's name he's probably screwing up. Haven't heard his name a lot until lately. We'll be lucky to get another LS like DeOssie. Figures he'd bow out the same year as Eli.

D'oh! you are right. Well, he won 2 rings with Eli, that's what I meant ;)
Coming out of college. Unfortunately that never panned out, but he made a great career for himself. Glad we had him around. He was money for years. Never had to worry about his snaps. Unfortunately it seems his time has passed. Time to move on before he ruins our All-Pro Kickers career. Thanks for everything Zak!
It’s really so easy to say goodbye to a long tenured Giant who has quietly don’t his job professionally for years. He will be remembered for nothing special but he has run a lot of miles for this team and in today’s NFL he has no known concerns. DeOssie Is a another reason why I don’t like big money FA it’s so hard to just say goodbye to them for failing to perform to expected hopes and social professionalism.
A true warrior has likely departed he was always on the front lines for us and never once stepped back. We need more warriors like him to begin the real team rebuild. Heart felt Thanks DeOssie.
The way Barkley is playing this year they don't need to worry about putting him on IR to lose. Just put him in pass protection on every down and the Giants are guaranteed to lose
He initial was expected to compete for an LB spot on defense, but I only vaguely recall seeing him on D in limited situations. So he didn't pan out.
As a special teamer, however, he excelled. 40 combined (solo and assists) tackles, probably every one on punt returns, is pretty incredible for a long-snapper.
I also just noted that he made 6 solo tackels in the 2007 playoff run, his rookie year. I like to re-watch that run, and will key on him; I suspect some of those plays were far more important than we typically realize
As my guess is this is the last time we’ll see him. Those of us who were around for the Trey Junkin incident appreciate the stability he brought to a very overlook position.
and end his career with the team he grew up rooting for...
Really? Have you watched him this season? He's cooked, as in he's finished. He was a fine long and short snapper who came into the league as a backup linebacker. He couldn't hack it there, so he did what his dad did. Steve was a fine Linebacker in the league. Zak was nothing like Beachball. Credit to him for staying in this league as long as he did as a specialist. We never witnessed any Trey Junkin moments, but he was heading down that embarrassing road with performances like last week. It's time for him to hang 'em up before that fork sticking out of his back goes any further.

Very good point. I hope Colin Holba can get the job done.

Bottom line. Great Ginat. Good pick
Zak was on kickoff coverage that year; he has the tackle on Laurence Maroney on the kickoff
after Eli to Burress TD in SB 42. Any kind of return would have been huge for NE, who only needed a FG to tie at that point. Maroney was tackled by Zak at the NE 26.
Lighten up Francis, mine was a joke. He's been bad this year, though.
Best of luck in years to come Zak.

If you can't say something nice.....

Some of you are such insufferable babies

It started two years ago. Got worse last year and this year he was cooked.

until thiz year, during which he has been putrid. Let's be honest; this move is to save him the embarrassment of being cut.
Funny it didn’t affect Rosas last year.

Watch LS turn into a shit show for the next 5 years.

never really got snaps on D.
all that being said he was an amazing special teams player. probably one fo the best 4th rounders we've drafted in the last 20 years lol.
Thanks for the good times Zak

It's already a shit-show.
P.S. Stop exaggerating.
+1

Are you familiar with the phenomenon of aging?
Or is this another drunk rant of yours like claiming that swinging a football helmet was no big deal because it has padding?
You are truly an insufferable douche.

Are you actually suggesting they should keep him? Do you actually watch Giants football? Don't ever change.
