It's pretty obvious he mailed it in. Like I said, I can't blame him. He's risking injury being out there. He's going to be a top-3 pick and will get multi-millions in a few months.

He is not mailing it in, I don’t even know how you do that, if you are on the field, you’re in danger of getting injured.
I think Michigan is doing a very good job of handling him and throwing different and multiple blockers at him. Simple as that. Think that sometime expectations are so sky high, people expect him to be in on every play.

The problem is: How do you know whether he's half-asking it or just getting outplayed? How does a scout know for sure?

How do you do that? By playing with little effort so as to not get hurt

Look at him. He's not hustling out there. He's going through the motions. It's pretty clear he's not going at full speed.
As someone said, Young was doubled a lot. He frequently got pressure when he wasn't. I also don't blame him for doing everything he can to protect himself. This game was a rout by the end of the first quarter.
That FG at the end of the first half by Auburn, where they got the extra second added back on to run the FG team on without a timeout, was a huge moment...And it exposed a huge flaw in the replay system because the review basically gave Auburn a 4th timeout.
RE: Saying mailed it in is a terrible case of confirmation bias. Â
If he didn't want to risk injury he'd just sit it out.
No confirmation bias from me. I couldn't give a shit about Michigan or Ohio State. But it was pretty obvious from watching the first few plays that Young wasn't playing with the same intensity that he usually plays with. He looked basically disinterested. Sure he was double-teamed on many plays, but there were instances where it was one-on-one and he just kind of went through the motions. He set the edge on a few plays but overall he just looked apathetic.
That's the sense I got. But I do agree that he should pull a Bosa and sit out for the rest of the season.

I don’t even know where to start with this...so he comes back from suspension last week and puts up a dominant performance against Penn State, but decides at some point during the week that he no longer cares and he’s just going to go through the motions? Couldn’t be further from the truth. I respect what you’re trying to do evaluating prospects, I really do. But if that’s your evaluation from watching that game, well then might want to go back to the drawing board. Brutal
Of all my gripes about Harbaugh since he took over at UM, his failure to develop the QBs he has had is at the top.
Not today for sure.

Exactly
No effort at all. As I type that they block the punt.

So you decide to run it up middle. What an unbelievably stupid play call.
Their last TD was widcat up the gut, he just spung it to the right
Yeh I wasn't sure, it ended up off tackle. But when you see that just call the play.
Nearly fumbled that INT return before crossing the goal line. Looked like his teammate knocked it loose.

Hilarious how many Badger 'fans' were ready to bail out after the second play.
Now we get to play that NFL team next Saturday!
