Jerry Jeudy WR Alabama

Ron Hussler : 11/30/2019 8:04 pm
Even though he didn't do too much today, gotta say he's one of the more impressive receivers I feel has come out in years.

As bad as we need O-Lone help, some kind of defense, etc.. I'm all for drafting BPA.. IMO, the edge from Ohio State doesn't fall to us, there isn't a Left Tackle in this draft that's worth a top 5 pick. JJ would definitely be a nice consolation pick for sure

Looking at his body of work, I don't think I've ever seen anyone run routes like this guy!! His speed is out of this world, hands are really good. On the downside, he is a little slight of frame.

If we're drafting top 5 and Chase Young doesn't make it to us, I wouldn't complain about this pick at all, then get the best LT in the 2nd round. Sterling Shepard is not a #1 wide receiver, Jeudy will keep defenses honest

Just curious

If Jeudy is that good why did two other WRs on Alabama go off yesterday while Jeudy did very little?
I actually think

he is the 3rd best WR on that team
To me it’s really simple: 2 choices
The_Boss : 12/1/2019 8:30 am : link
Chase Young
Or
Trade down to a team looking for a QB; we have holes up and down the roster.

I don’t think any OT this year warrants a top 5 pick and I certainly don’t want to take a WR that high.
The draft is all about value
SGMen : 12/1/2019 8:50 am : link
Lets say we have the 3rd pick in the draft. We decide to trade down. We just need to make sure we get value at where we pick and don't miss on the extra picks we get.

What?

Hey Sy, I know you are busy, but if you have a top 5 as of 12/1/19, could you share it. Thanks....if you do it.
I watched the Ohio St - Mich game on and off but didn't see

BBI-favorite Chase Young do much of anything. And its not like Michigan wasn't throwing the ball.

Anybody who watched the whole game see anything worth noting?

I watched it until there was about 5 minutes left in the game. I didn't see Young do anything. No sacks or even pressures. However, anyone can have a bad game. It wouldn't change my mind about drafting him were he available for us.
I'm really hoping the BPA is either OL or DL...

If it's Jerry Jeudy, so be it... He has been a heck of a player in his three years at Bama

He didn’t play great.

Either Michigan did a real nice job managing his rush or he just had an off day. But that shouldn’t take away from a phenomenal season...to date.

Throw Waddle in the mix and I can argue three guys are better prospects...
Given that the Giants

don't know how to evaluate or grade OL anymore (a problem most of the league shares), I would say people dismissing OL as not being Top 5 worthy are at least as suspect as those who say there are OL worthy of the top 5.

draft for WRs. No need to invest a high pick in a WR.

We should take either the best OL, edge rusher, or trade down.

I hate to draft on need but I am with you here. Outside of a player far and away the best (which if you don't need, you trade down from) then go for a position of need all other things being equal. We need to protect Jones big time.

I say go all out for Young though.

Waddle could be the best pro of them all. Has a very Tyreke Hill feel to his game.
What stud high 1st round WR
Coach Red Beaulieu : 12/1/2019 10:58 am : link

I havent gotten into it but apparently
Bleedblue10 : 12/1/2019 10:59 am : link
this draft is very deep with WRs so to use a top 5 pick on one would be the Giants way to go. It will turn out like the Barkley pick where you have this great player with no line to help the QB get him the ball. No thank you if we miss out on Young give me Espenesa or Wirfs. Hell even the LB from Clemson would be ok just no RB or WR in the first round this year.
depends on knuckle head Gettleman strategy
mdc1 : 12/1/2019 11:36 am : link
knowing him, he will stick with or try to supplement the oline through free agency, leaving best player available options. Notice, barkley, jones, ?
one thing for sure though and remember this
mdc1 : 12/1/2019 11:38 am : link
this is a passing league and we have no receivers, especially guys that can get separation or get deep. Any of those Bama receivers are an upgrade over what we have, including speed.

Maybe because Auburn did everything they could to keep him from ruining the game for them. In turn it opened up opportunities for the rest of the WR's and Bama's O to have big games.

Very similar to what Michigan did yesterday to Young IMO only on the other side of the ball. Young didn't have his best game but Michigan was doubling him nearly every play and when they weren't they either went away from him or chipped him if they weren't straight up doubling him.

Jeudy
Csonka : 12/1/2019 11:55 am : link
Strange time to lobby for Jeudy after a 5-26 game.

He's piled up stats in blowout wins of 40 points plus. Jeudy's the #1 but his own teammate Devonta Smith puts up better stats every game. I'm not using a top 10 pick on him despite our need for a #1 WR. Look again in round 2.

No but it should also be taken into account. These are the competition games that matter since its the quality of players and coaches you will be facing at the next level.

Not trashing on him just tempering BBI enthusiasm for the next greatest thing since sliced bread...

You make a really valid point Csonka, I will explain.

It just irks me that we don't have a guy that is capable of beating defenders and catch the ball on a consistent basis, we just don't have this..I've been watching Jeudy for a couple of years now, IMO hes by far the best thing on Bama and the best WR in college. He had an off-day, however, we need a Wr BAD

Anyone who has watched the Giants this year can tell you that the O-Line sucks, it needs to be upgraded. Don't see why we can't do this with a high second round pick, get someone in F/A, Hernandez is a solid up and coming player.

With a couple of moves, the line can be changed significantly for the better.

Things like speed, hands, can't be taught..Route running is difficult to teach, this guy already has it.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of this will matter with ineffective coaching. I try not to pile on, however, I just don't think we have a very good coach or coaching staff.

I have Jeudy #3 WR in this class right now.

Waddle is better than him - but he isn't in the draft class.

The problem is that as far as I know OBJ was OBJ without the attitude issues in the college.

I get it, believe me. The majority of BBI really don't really watch college football and rely on highlights courtesy of ESPN, Youtube, etc.

But I think Young is a great talent having a great year. He had 4 sacks against Wisconsin and 3 against PSU. That's quite impressive...no?

If you use the 3rd pick on JJ, and you use big bucks to get a Tackle in FA and you use a 2nd rd pick on a center, what does that lead you to to get defense? I know we have a lot of money in cap space but you knwo many teams are also looking to improve and they will overpay a "Solder" to get what they need too.

I know you said we need a WR bad. I agree. But we also need two OL bad. We need a pass rusher bad. We need an ILB bad. We need a Safety bad. I have no problem getting a Wr just not with the 3rd pick because I think the trenches overall with the Giants (Linebackers are part of the trenches) needs to be a very high priority. OFC not all - but I would think a 3rd pick we'd can do better than a WR unless JJ is a lock to be a superstar. WHich he isn't.
