Would you consider trading for a Head Coach?

Mike in Prescott : 11/30/2019 11:41 pm
It's been done a few times, twice involving Belichick (more or less). Now, I can't imagine Little Bill being available, but are there any other coaches in the league you would consider trading for. And at what price?

I would absolutely send a 1 to Pittsburgh for Tomlinson (not that I think the Rooneys would part with him).

What about Rivera? Would a pick make it easier for the owner in Carolina to cut him loose? Just an idea that has been floating in my head recently. No claims to this being a sane idea. I am curious if anyone else has thoughts on this.

Sending a #1 to pitt for Tomlin is a fucking disaster...

I wouldn't trade our #1 for BB I don't think. We are going to get chase young if we lose out. He is a guy who turns the defense around much quicker.

I'd never trade for a coach, I think you can find quality without losing picks
No

And no.
If a HC is that good,

There is only one coach that I would trade for

and that is Dante Scarnecchia. The guy knows how to coach OL. We are absolutely desperate to fix our OL issues. We can continue to cycle through picks/FAs/OL coaches to no avail. Acquire the best coach, pay him the most, give him whatever title that is necessary. Call him King for all I care.

You honestly think Chase Young is more valuable than Bill Belichick? I’d trade our entire draft for Belichick.

That wouldn't be of smartest moves either..a 71 yrs old coach. Oye

Harbaugh is not a Mara kind of Coach IMO. I don’t think he’d even be a consideration, sadly.

The guy could be 98 and still a better coach than what we have had. The guy has the Midas Touch. If he was on his death bed, it would be worth it to have a respectable OL if only for a single season.
Is Lamar Jackson the Head Coach?
trueblueinpw : 12/1/2019 10:50 am : link
Then sure, I’ll trade Evan Engram, Bethea and Lenard Williams along with a conditional 3rd round 2024 pick.

Do it now Getty!

Yes I do. Players play. End of the day you need the horses. BB would be great but trading the entire draft for him is crazy imo. As mentioned maybe I'd consider trading for BB but ultimately, I'm not a fan
Trade for, no - However I'd trade Shurmur away for a

Bill Belichick (New York Jets to New England, 2000)

Jon Gruden (Oakland Raiders to Tampa Bay, 2002)

Herm Edwards (New York Jets to Kansas City, 2006)

Mike Holmgren (Green Bay Packers to Seattle Seahawks, 1999)

Bill Parcells (New England Patriots to New York Jets, 1997)

The Bellichik trade is obviously the most successful. Tampa gave up a fortune (2 1sts, 2nds and cash) for Chucky -- but he gave them what the were looking for short term. I'm not sure the other trades worked out too well.

Obviously, Holmgren was good add by Seattle as well.

Firing a coach mean being liable for his salary, yes. So ANY new coach will demand a significant salary if we want a big name. The idea of a trade is irrelevant. A new coach gets paid either way.
