My interest in football is definitely waning, for the first time in almost 50 years. For me, it’s less about the losing and more about missing a core of players that I look forward to watching every week. I mean, I was truly weaned as a fan on bad football. But man was it easy to root for those defenses in the ‘70s. I like a few individual players: Barkley, Jones. But everyone else? Meh.
In no way do I feel like I’m rooting for a team.
Up until last night I thought Shurmur would get a 3rd year for sure but now I don't see how that is possible given his record and the "feel" of this team.
I also can't see how we can win today against a "real" NFL QB. The fact that the line is -6.5 boggles my mind as I'd figure -7 at worst.
Packers 27-17 today.
I think the issue is not that the team hasn't won a championship since 2011... but that the team has basically been near the bottom for a while. It would be nice to have something to root for after Thanksgiving one day. Our season has been over after 8 games for a while now.
I'm more worried about Barkley's talents being wasted on a crappy team with no line, never reaching his true potential. A player of his ability deserves way more than that.
You didn’t read my post, did you. It was only a few sentences.

Odd timing, why last night?
This team desperately needs a head man who will build a culture, identity & program. It isn’t Shurmur. I think any of these guys will bring excitement:
Jim Harbaugh
Matt Rhule
Josh McDaniels
Once we start seeing a real identity, I think the mood will really change here. Going 7-9 with an identity & something to really build on is much different than a lifeless 2-9 team.
Jones, Barkley, Slayton, Hernandez are all very young building blocks that have been giving their all. All of them seem very mature and are only getting better with every game they play.
Dex Larwrence seems to be fixture on the DL for years to come. Along with Tomlinson and Williams is a solid interior group.
Golden has had a great season. He is a total effort player and it is great for the young Carter and Ximines to be around.
Connelly, while not playing because of injury, looks to me like a building block. The kid has obvious instincts and can tackle and blitz.
The 3 young CB in Baker, Beal and Ballentine have loads of ability and the playing time they are getting is huge for next year.
I happy that Julian Love is finally getting some PT, as I think he may have the most instincts of all the new DB’s.
Lots to root for, just need to scout a little bit and learn about these players because many will be here for a few years.

You’re right especially about this. The team needs more of it. Hopefully these guys (and some others you mentioned) will play solidly on the team for more than a season or two. Because I was feeling this way about guys like Collins and Beckham.
The Giants desperately need a difference maker on defense....
Chase Young

If we could get Chase Young it would be the cornerstone piece we need on the front 7. You need players that are elite to garner attention and help accentuate the rest of the team.
Coaching in the NFL is huge. The Giants would be a lot more fun to watch if they were coached better.
Evan Engram?
especially all the young ones
I can see FS Bethea, LB K. Martin and even CB Jenkins cut at season's end due to age, salary. We have money to add UFA's and also the draft. I'd like to keep Jenkins if he is willing to take a paycut.
