Will the Maras cede control of football related decisions?

Jim from Katonah : 12/1/2019 4:56 pm
It’s been a disastrous run marked by cronyism and nepotism and zero sense of urgency to WIN (see contra, the Steelers, who are in the playoff hunt without Ben, LeVeon, Brown, Antonio, Conner, JuJu, and playing someone named Delvin Hodges at QB). In any other non-family business, the likes of Chris Mara — who have failed year after year my every measure — wouldn’t have a job.

We are stuck right now with a regime that has been living off a glorious past for way too long. Can’t see it changing. The money is still pouring in, the franchise has tripled in value since over the last 10 miserable years, the loyal fan base will continue to support the team.

The Maras seem like a nice enough bunch, but I don’t see anything changing until they start making hard decisions and bringing in outsiders and accountability. Trying to think of a catalyst for this to actually happen.
There is only one.

Going 0-16 next year with the same brain trust. That's about the only thing that would force them to change.

I don't feel ownership has the passion to win

As much as I find Jerry Jones disreputable (PacMan signing is an example) the guy wants to win. I think the primary thing Giants ownership cares about is the revenue stream.
Winning seems to be a distant second. Do nothing, and get richer every year. Nice.

As long as TV revenue is what it is, it's a gravy train for all owners. If the money is all you care about, you'd be stupid to sell. You don't have to do anything. The money keeps coming in.

The fan base and the popularity of the league itself seems to be taken for granted by the Giants owners.
Hate to say it, but

what a stupid question. Why would they give up control, because you don't like it?
Sadly

The coffers will continue to be filled. For every season ticket holder that leaves there will be one willing to take it on. No league commissioner will step in like last. It will have to be cataclysmic outside the normal realm for them to relinquish control. They have been overexposed to the madness of 70s 80s and the lust for $$$$. The Maras never learned anything from the latter years of their father.Look at the Browns Skins and Bengals. They hit the bottom, start to rise upwards but the same constant forces send them back to the bottom. The BS ballast is too top heavy.

Exactly ... Jones is an asshole ... but would sell his mother to win. The Maras? Meh, give it the old college try.

This is a huge test of ownership. Over the last five years or so, they've failed it -- over and over again.
